RE: How do you keep thiefs out?

Some B&E thru a roof vent or skylight. Some RVs have two locks on the side door, one is a master key (fits all) for the manufacturer and the other is unique. Some side cargo compartments are accessible from the inside and outside allowing a small person to crawl through once they obtain a generic RV compartment key from any RV store. One security alarm system to identify unauthorized entry is the RV Nanny which is a Wireless RV Alarm System. When an alarm is activated, the systems will text message your cell phone, PDA, PC, and/or send you an email. The system communicates anywhere cell phone coverage exists. If you concerned of theft of the entire RV,and toys i.e. Quads, bikes, wave runners etc., there are various GPS tracking systems similar to and including LoJack

RE: Roof rotted on a 2008 Coachmen 2600

I suggest you read all the sales and inspection documents of the RV from Giant RV. If that made false claims of inspection, misrepresentation of vehicle condition and repairs, and failure of disclosure, you may consider suing in addition to filing complaints BBB, Chamber of Commerce and other businesses. ALSO, for free legal advise I suggest contacting the Just Answer - Consumer Protection and submit your question to them.

RE: Best Road Atlas

I use the Rand McNally Delux Motor Carriers' Road Atlas. It has the height route restrictions. My 5th wheel is a little over 13 feet high so I do not want to get stuck on a low clearance road. Jaime My Outlaw requires 13' Clearance and I use the A.I.T.A. Listing to identify Low Clearances, Bridge Heights and below normal bridge clearances. Check it out.

RE: Motorhome Furniture - Unanchored

If you question if something should be secured - SECURE IT! If it moves afterwards, re-secure it when safe to do so. It is still your personal responsibility and not the governments - for now that is. We all know (should) of ways to secure items to walls, floors, dashes, cupboards, sliding doors, and counter tops using; double sided foam tape, velcro loop fasteners, carpet tape, screws, nails, snaps, zip ties, bungy cords, TV/electronic security tabs, 30# lead shot canvas bags (sand bag), tie straps, and earth quake puddy to name a few. Traveling in a RV is like traveling in a passenger jet. The driver is the Pilot and Captain. Both utilize (should) check lists. Many have more experience than others, and can provided a smoother ride to the destination. All passengers and Co-Pilots should get permission before moving around the RV. Everything and everybody is locked and secured before moving. Exercise safety and keep things relatively secured while underway. Both have their share of turbulence; wind, weather, passing rigs, and uneven pavement. During turbulence, walking around should be limited and all items properly stored and secured. The idea is to watch speed, road conditions, leave lots of space between you and the vehicle ahead, avoid sudden stops, and reach your destination safely without incident.

Most people know or quickly find out after the fact,:S That when you buy Boats, RVs and Harleys, they are just the down payment for the accessories.

RE: Biggest Toy Hauler I've seen

How does that country song go, Oh yeah. Give me forty acres and I'll turn this rig around. :( Doesn't look to comfortable. I'll stay with my 37' Outlaw. Guess it's made for the flat desert and the Utah salt flats.

RE: solar charge controller needed???

Why not Speak with some experts like at AM Solar who make and design RV solar equipment. They are friendly and advice is free. Even a small trickle charger can boil a battery dry over time.

RE: Wobbly Table Legs, Anybody Use These ?

Using the tri-lock eliminates a counter sink hole in the floor. Also make it more difficult to disassemble if you have strength issues. The basic cone base design goes back at least 45 years. Comes down to individual preference and how long is the table to be in place.

RE: New to RVing

Your a TT virgin and to learn about camping with your trailer I suggest you begin reading all the owners manuals regarding your TT to learn all about the operations and maintenance of your TT inside and out. Then research out various books (Save & buy used ones from e-bay, etc) regarding outdoor living, TT, Tips, etc. to build your own reference library. Regarding your battery, you can place a trickle charger on it while its stored and monitor water levels. If you plan to use your TT a lot, you may want to consider adding Solar with a quality controller and an inverter (12v to 110v) (if you TT does not already have one) which will keep your batteries fully charged.

RE: Girl Question

When traveling, one needs to go to town ever so often for groceries, supplies, LP, fuel or do laundry. In every town you'll find a laundry mat, barber, nail and hair salon. What would you do if your current beautician died or moved :h Speak with the locals, ask them questions and ask for a referral to a professional beautician, - OR - do your own hair, - OR - get your significant other/friend to do it - OR - learn to wear a hat or wig. IMO, only GOD is indispensable in our lives and he doesn't care if your hair is colored or styled.

RE: I need 928GT skills

The pump looks well protected. When ever a pump is enclosed, one needs to ensure there is enough space and or vent holes for ventilation of the pump motor so it does not heat up reducing its' life span.

RE: Mouse in my RV?

I would reexamine the nest for plastic insulation from wires and not worry about the cotton material. If you find plastic you have bared, frayed or broken wiring somewhere. IMHO I would get some boxes of DECON and place them in locations pets can't go, i.e. Remove drawers and vent covers to place on floor areas under counters, kitchen and bath sinks. You can use rolled or carpet tape if your concerned about moving or sliding of the box. Don't forget about basement and storage boxes. If your RV is in storage at home, set DECON in the engine compartment too. This time of your Mickey and his friends want to stay warm.
