RE: Towbar stuck in receiver

In my experience WD40 is not a particularly effective penetrating oil compared to the ones designed for the job.
I would get some Kroil or something similar and try it. It helps to wait a day after applying it. You might also try heating the receiver with a propane torch and tapping on each side in turn as you try to pull it out.

RE: Windshield Curtains

Ours are lined -- If I expect them to survive cleaning and look nice I'd have they dry cleaned because they probably have interfacing at the tops where the pleats are (most drapes are made that way) therefore the lining and interlining may not hold up to normal washing/drying. I'd also have them press them.
Lucy
Must depend on the material. Ours are also lined and they came out okay.

RE: External DVD for USB and TV usage?

I doubt it. TVs are not computers and to the best of my knowledge, don't have USB ports that would support an external drive.
The world has changed when you and I weren't looking. :)
I was surprised to discover that my branny new 32 inch Samsung LCD TV has a USB input.
It can be used to connect to a flash drive. The drive can contain MP3 files, Slide shows, jpeg pictures, or firmware updates. There are menu options to play or view the various files.
Don't know about a DVD player though.

RE: Water Softeners

We just bought THIS ONE
A number of people posted about it in an earlier thread.
It uses a box of table salt for regeneration.
Right now we will only use it at a place in AZ where we usually spend the majority of the winter. We have been getting a build up of scale in our plumbing while staying there.

RE: Killer Virus Coming

The one I got last week said I had "recieved" an Ecard. They spelled received wrong and did not say who sent it.
The site that I would have been sent to if I clicked it was in Russia as I recall and was spoofed to look like the actual Hallmark site address. Something like "WWW.hallmark.com.102234765.ru".
I use a program called MailWasher that lets me look at the full headers of suspect messages and see where the links actually go without actually opening the messages. Comes in handy from time to time.

RE: Picking out Full Timers

If they have SD plates there is a pretty good chance they are full timers.

RE: Windshield Curtains

DW took ours out of the dryer when they were still damp and hung them outside with the pleats partly closed to finish drying. Don't know if that was necessary or not but they turned out well.

RE: tires "cupping"

It can also be caused by alignment. That was my problem with my Honda rear tires (twice now).

RE: attaching Ext. LP tank

I used a an Extend a Stay kit for my motor home. It has some check valves and maybe an excess flow preventer which a simple T would not have. I would go with the right product. Can you take the one you bought back and exchange it?

RE: Connecting Printer and 2 Laptop

I use a wireless print server from HP. See it HERE.
It costs $60 on the HP site but may be cheaper at Amazon or somewhere else.
It works with a lot of printers and many are listed on the HP web site.
It plugs into the USB port on a printer.

RE: Ceiling Fan MaxAir Cover

I don't know what type of fans Monaco installed on my coach. They are listed as "12V Attic Fan w/ Auto Dome" on the window sticker. I don't know what they mean by auto dome, but the cover has a motor that will open/close the cover, or you can pull on the handle and manually raise/lower the cover.
Thanks for the pictures of your install. If I can figure out how to get to the inside of the wall where the bolts will come through so I can add reinforcement to the plastic I could do something similar. I will have to see if I can remove the fan assembly enough to gain access.
That sounds like a Fantastic Fan. If so it will come apart so the nuts can be put on. I did it with mine when I installed my MaxAir hinged cover.

RE: Email client for windows 7

I am using both Firefox and Thunderbird.
Thunderbird has three options under Accounts/server settings.
Download messages on start up
Download message every XX minutes (XX per your choice)
Automatically download new messages.
It sounds like it might do what you want.
You might want to go HERE and see what they say about getting messages from Gmail and also migration of your old messages and address book.

Kits are available at Walmart but I don't recall the brand. About $20 or so I think.

RE: Just Curiuos..... Carbon Footprint.. House vs RV ?

We use fewer resources than we did when we lived in a stick house even though our motor home gas mileage is 7 MPG. The Honda does good- about 26 MPG average and we put less than 4000 miles per year on it.
Our numbers:
12 gallons of water per day versus 160 to 200 gallons per day for two people - average use. (http://ga.water.usgs.gov/edu/qahome.html#HDR3)
We use about 1500 gallons of gasoline per year.
Our sewage outflow (13 gallons per day)is about the same as water useage versus 160 to 200 gallons per day at the stick house.
250 KWH of electricity per month versus 500 to 1000 KWH average for two people.
About 200 gallons of propane per year - would be less but we spend a couple of months in CO in the fall with family and use the furnace some there.
I used close to 1500 gallons of fuel oil per year to heat my 3600 square foot house in NH and at least 1500 KWHs of electricity per month. We put about 4000 miles per year on the car versus 14,000 when we had the house.
The fuel and propane we use is offset by the fuel oil we used in the house. Water and electricty are quite a bit less, so it would seem to me that we are using considerably fewer resources in the motor home than we did in the house.

RE: Wiindows 7 - Good Bad or SoSo

My main complaint is there is no way to switch to the classic windows style at least I have not found out if you can.
I saw anything on that a while back and sure thought I saved it but can't find it now.
There is a little info HERE that might be interesting to you.

RE: South Dakota Motor home registration.

If you have paid an excise or sales tax in another state equal to or more than 3% you don't have pay SD again when you establish your domicile in SD and register your vehicles.

RE: fles steel chair repair

Although Flex steel makes some leather units, most are Ultra Leather which is a type of polyurethane and can be glued. I would call them and see what they recommend.
