RE: Something Rotten In Pittsburgh!

I guess I'm the only Steeler fan on this forum! Bagman. Steelers fan since 1976 here.......:) Became a Rams fan in the mid to late 90s.....:R So now I pretty much pull for the team that is playing Dallas. :B

RE: IPhone with AT&T

Why does it seem that EVERY iPhone thread ultimately gets hijacked by Verizon customers? 17 replies, and only 9 of those address the O.P.'s question directly. :R As registered members of RV.net, you Verizon guys do know that you can start your own threads.....Right?

RE: IPhone with AT&T

iHave an iPhone 3G, and iLove iT. My only complaint iS that Apple, and AT&T should have iNvented iT 20 years ago.

RE: Art Work - Landscapes

Dredged up this old thread because I wanted to add some more of my artwork per a PM that the O.P., and I shared..... This is a picture that I finally got around to taking of a squadron patch that I made myself. It is acryllic on leather. It is a unit patch from the 324th Bomb Squadron. The same squadron that the famous "Memphis Belle" was assigned to. I had it sewn onto my very expensive A2 jacket. I must assume the seamstress to have been drunk.....This explains why I wrote in my previous post that I am reserved to paint on this jacket myself. It doesn't need anymore messing up.....But I guess this just adds "character". http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1X-zaEfNoAQ/Sy7OXKUZMUI/AAAAAAAAAUs/KIHU-YD7FHw/s512/A2-2.jpg Web page with some 324th info

RE: What engine will replace the Big block V-8 in Motorhomes?

Those fat blocks have a lasting legacy. Since it only lists the L18 engine (Vortec 8100), I wonder how it affects the GM Goodwrench replacement 454 engines, and the many big block GM Performance Parts engines. If I'm not mistaken, it is required by law that they keep the models for the castings available for 7 years. At which time they can sell them off. I'm guessing we will still be able to buy the engine components aftermarket for many years to come. While we are on that subject...... The aftermarket has recently started producing Chevrolet 348/409 "W" engine components. Those engines are the pre-cursor to the Mk IV 396~454 engines. The Ws haven't been produced since 1964, but the aftermarket has seen an increased desire by the public to buy components for them. I know for the Ws there are heads, and intake manifolds available now, and engine blocks were coming out real soon. There are currently several aftermarket Mk IV engine block producers, and tons of aftermarket cylinder head options.

RE: tethering the I Phone

Right now only if it's Jailbroken. AT&T will eventually provide tethering. That's rumored to happen sometime in 2010... :C Kewl You are supposed to be using your iphone INSTEAD OF your computer. A lot of people are pushing toward that great computing cloud in the sky where individuals like us don't have computers, but just access to the cloud that keeps all of our data and provides all of our applications. I can't wait :) iWould like to be able to tether my son's iPod touch to my iPhone. iT would add a little more usability to him when we are away from our home WiFi. iT would be real handy while we are travelling. I tether all the time on my un-jailbroke iPhone, but you do have to stay with 3.0. Wasn't a problem until lately but I am now starting to run into apps that require 3.1. Problem for me too..... .....however, iDon't tether, iJust can't go backward with my O.S. due to a couple of apps that iHave.

RE: Boy Scout returns purse with nearly $2,000

Doesn't surprise me that a scout would do that. More to be gained by a moral deed than what that money could buy. BTW, FWIW, 2010 is the 100th year anniversary of the BoyScouts. In the 100 years of BoyScouting there have only been a handful more than 2 million boys reach the rank of Eagle Scout. My oldest son being one of those. We have a target of getting my youngest son's Eagle rank completed in 2010. I think earning his Eagle during the Century celebration will add gravity to it.

RE: Ford 6.2L gas V8 power figures released

With regards to the new 6.2L, think of the high RPM as extra "reserve", like War Emergency Power. I am going to bet a majority of posters on RV.net don't even know what "War Emergency Power" is. Since you made reference to it, I assume you know, and since I know, we may be the only two who do know. ;)

RE: Old Skool Cummins Discussion

What engine RPMs are you RAM pick-up truck guys seeing @ 60mph? Again, this truck sees 1900 @ 60mph, which would suggest probably a slight O/D tranny top gear, and 4.10s in the punkin. Tires are 11R22.5. This truck has a 6-speed BTW. According to my calculations, 11R22.5s at 60mph and 1900rpms gives this truck a final drive ratio of 3.8:1 You SURE that's a 5.9? Yup. 5.9L B-series. It is even painted Cummins tan. Under the hood of this truck it looks tiny. ;) What type of truck is it, just outta curiosity? Early 90s L-7000 Ford.

RE: High Milage 07 Duramax Chevy Classic - Worth Buying?

I wouldn't sweat 80,000mi. Considering I own 3 gas powered vehicles approaching 1/4 million miles each, I wouldn't even sweat 180,000mi on a diesel.

RE: Ford 6.2L gas V8 power figures released

Interesting that the I-6 Cummins, and V-8 Duramax have almost identical overlapping torque curves. Yes, they are very close. The I6 Cummins builds tq at slightly lower RPM, but the V8 Duramax peaks a bit higher then drops off ever so slightly. The V8 makes more hp at higher RPM too. I can feel these differences when driving my truck vs driving my friends 04 Dmax LB7. Also of note is that the Ford diesel make almost the same power, but at ~500 more RPM overall. I wonder why? Did they design it that way for some reason, or is it "just the way it is" based on turbo output etc. I wish I had a 6.7L Cummins, and a LMM Duramax available to me. I know what the 6.4L PSD drives like, and my experiences reflect those lower/later power numbers on the PSD. The 6.4L PSD just seems to have a need to be wound up. I have driven exact duplicate F-450 trucks many, many miles, one with a 6.0L PSD, and the other with a 6.4L PSD, I have never felt that the 2008 6.4L PSD has the low end grunt that the 2004 6.0L PSD before it had.

Old Skool Cummins Discussion

At work, we have an early 90s Ford L-7000 that is on temporary loan to us until our 2001 International 4700 is returned pending some upgrades/repairs. This old ford has the 2-valve B-series 5.9L engine that was also available in the Dodge pick-ups during the same time era. Sorry, don't have any HP/TQ numbers for this engine....The only tag is a Jasper reman engine data tag, and no HP #s. (Jasper=junk :R) Oddly this truck only shows 370,000mi on it's odometer, and it's reman engine looks to have been in there a while. :h This engine does have an aftercooler, so I am quite sure it is one of the higher HP models. My discussion centers around these questions: What RPMs do you Cummins pick-up guys see at 60mph. This truck runs about 1900rpms @ 60mph. Forgot what governed RPM was, but IIRC it was about 3500. And why does this truck not seem to be as loud at idle as the Cummins' that were in the pick-ups? The pick-up engines have a definate growl, whereas this engine is more of a tradional diesel clatter. Possibly injector pump timing? I took an opportuninty to "test drive" this behemoth, and I think it's old Cummins in this huge cracker box pulls this giant as hard as the 2008 F-450 I drive with it's 6.4L PSD....That is just seat-of-the-pants dyno, but it does account for something. This old dinosaur can't be far from the junkyard, since it belongs to the company I work for, maybe I can get an inside line on the engine.......Hmmmm a 5.9 Cummins repower for my old 1994 K2500. I know it can be done. :) ......Or maybe I can have Scheid Diesel hot rod it, put it in my '77 K-30, and switch from the dying Pro-street gas pulling classes to the ever expanding 2.8 diesel pulling classes. Definately a cheaper way to get into the diesel classes than a Duramax repower. :E I do know that Cummins makes a rear engine plate that adapts their 5.9L B series engine to the Chevrolet transmission bell housing bolt pattern. :) This particular Cummins 5.9L diesel seems like an awesome engine, just can't explain why the reman is so dirty, and the truck only shows 370,000. :H Anyhow, what are your guys thoughts on the idle dB, and cruise gearing/RPM?

Help me understand something here......... Some of you people wont take the time to read about the lives of someone who thought enough to include you in their thoughts? ......And yet you post your thoughts on a public forum for total strangers to read, and expect someone to care? Wow, how totally conceited. I value everyone that I am in contact with. A stranger is a friend that I haven't met yet.

RE: Parking / Cover your Crew Cab Pick Ups

My wife's 2001 2500HD is an EC/SB because we didn't have room to park a CC/SB in our garage, and still walk around it with the garage door closed. The closet in the back of our garage is pretty big, and takes up plenty of space. Marty is right about the newer paints. The newer clear coats have U/V resistant compounds in them. A good U/V resistant wax also helps preserve that new luster. My 1997 Chevy Blazer has set out side during the daytime it's entire life. It still shines like a new penny. Only issue to this effect is the fact that when my wife drove it to work she always parked it pointing south where it would get the most daytime sun on it's dashboard. As a result the dash is bleached. I have thought about buying a dash board cover for it, I just haven't gotten around to doing it. Now that she drives her 2500HD I bought her those silver window shades to use while at work.

RE: super duty diesel price

Two of the trucks that were priced out in that thread were $61,000, and $63,000. :E If you want my opinion, I think any new pick-up truck that you look at is overpriced. C/G, F or D. :( Glad there is a lot of miles left in my "old" iron. Heck I remember the day that my 2002 2500HD was delivered to the dealer on the transporter. Brand new, and shiny, with all of the production line stickers, and plastic seat bags. The inventory tag hanging from the rearview mirror. The window sticker with the options on it.......And now it fits into the category of past production model.

RE: Hope more effort went into the vehicle than that production

What does this thread have to do with "tow vehicles"? Is the O.P. planning on using a Volt to tow his camper? We should have let GM and their UAW workers all go down the drain. They brought it on themselves. This is pathetic. What a waste of our taxes! I for one don't see how you could wish that on anyone. To force 40,000 more people out of work, and at Christmas time, you are a real piece of work.....
