RE: Battery acid problem.

Greetings.. Had the same problem with the Battery in my TV. Cleaned dried..oiled tray. It still produced the same ugly mess...clean and painted the tray with anti-seize compound (the Silver stuff) and to date it is still fine no corrosive reaction. Just a suggestion. Grant

RE: Weigh Scale Woes

Skipnchar.. No BS...If you are not legally licenced, as requried by your Ins. Co. the Co. has a legal way out on a large claim. On the big claims they are looking for the loop hole. Just an observation from the past. Briteskys.. If you are correctly licenced from your home state or jurisdiction (Drivers Lic.) then you are ok here. Weights must be with in the limits of the province.

RE: Tires for Tow Vehicle

Greetings. We pull a 21 Ft. Light weight with a 99 Tahoe, same engine and rear end. When we purchased the Tahoe it was equipped with "e" LT 235-85-16 tires. Good stiff side walls etc. It rode and handled like a lumber truck, great with the trailer. How ever it now has Toyo P265.75.16 Open Country HT tires. Rides Great handles great and is great with the trailer. If you check things out...an LT tire requires 50 Lb of air to carry the same load a P tire does at 35. Depending on the use and load you will be hauling you may be able to get by with the P tire. I do not have any problems with sway or control with these tires and have the benefit of a smoother ride when solo, which is most of our driving. To each his own..but 8 and 10 ply tires on a 1/2T.?? a little heavy. Hope this helps..not trying to start a war just my observations... Cheers Grant.

RE: Ultra-fab 3002 electric tongue jack

Greetings. Have the same jack..just finished removing it and doing a complete rewire. The switch-motor and all connections were corroded. This from the acid solder and wet damp climate. I am old slow and retired so had lots of time....there is not much room to fool around and everything has to be soldered as not enough room to use the slide on clips. When I was finished I sprayed the inside of the housing with "Nitro-Lube" supposed to prevent this from happening again..time will tell. I also installed a ground wire from the housing to the trailer frame along with the Hot line. I keep it covered with a pail in the off season and use the vinyl cover when travelling how ever things get a little damp out here on the west coast.. Grant

RE: Pushing to passing gear on the hills / mountains

Greetings..We live on the west coast and most, if not all, of our towing is in the Mtns. I have to agree with what Lanerd posted. However some observations...power is fuel and fuel is heat and so on. I pull a 21 ft. trlr (lite weight) and have found that when the ground speed drops below a certain speed and the motor RPM drops, at the bottom of a long climb I take my foot off the gas, manually shift(auto Trans) into 2nd gear and set the RPM at or just above the maximum torque rating for the motor. The motor is not lugging, roaring and or getting over heated (depending on the length of the climb and the temperature) and wait for the top of the hill. If it is a long one I set the cruise control and enjoy the scenery. Works for me. Cheers.. Grant.
