RE: Brake Controller -Cheap vs. Expensive

On my first trailer 36 years ago, I had a Kelsy Hays Hydraulic brake control. I have always taken it off any truck that I got rid of, and today it is on my current truck. Has worked fine all these years and have not intention of changing.

RE: Barstow nightmare

You should have just gotten into the back seat and driven out. My wife has never seen a situation that couldn't have been handled from that position.
I don't care who you are ....that right there is funny:B

RE: Dullie Question

You will need sway control, what you might not need is weight distribution. A 29 foot trailer needs sway control.
I will disagree with you...I pull a 32 foot trailer with out either and have for over 60000 miles

RE: No urea injection on 2010 Dodge/Cummins pickups

Time will tell.
Anyway, this thread really isn't about fuel economy bragging. It's about the use or non-usage of DEF (urea).
I suspect urea will NOT be popular in colder climates, like Canada's prairies, and the Northern Alberta oil sands region, as it freezes at 11*F (-10*C). I have heard that most of the diesel pickups sold in Canada (75% +) are sold in Alberta. It'll be interesting to watch how the oil field companies deal with urea in their work trucks or if they avoid them and choose gassers or another brand.
We started replacing the diesels a few years ago... we are down to 3 from over 75

RE: WD really needed for my truck?

I do not use either. With a CC dually it is not very likely that an 8000 pound trailer will affect the truck much if at all

You said it is an older model camper....how old is that? Not all older rigs had a grey water tank

RE: Auto or manual

Soooo, you're saying you can't burn up a clutch but you can burn up an auto
No. I'm saying you really have to work to smoke a clutch, but when running heavily loaded, you have to work to NOT smoke a slushpump.
300K on the clutch in my old F-350.
In what way do I have to work to NOT smoke my slushpump? It's done everything I've subjected it to without any special treatment with no overheating. If the automatic were as bad as you insist it is, we would all be driving manuals unless physical restraints prevented it. Fact is, that's not the case. You can smoke a clutch, warp and glaze a pressure plate in just a few seconds of abuse. Not fooling me...
Allison offers hands on proof to dispel such claims from stubborn folks who insist an auto can't do the jobs they do everyday reliably and long term.

Sorry Hannibal but those Allisons are nothing like the bunch of junk they put behind the Dmax's

RE: Stopped by the RCMP and taken to the weigh scales

Most likely his truck was registered as a passenger vehicle at around 7200 pounds and he was running over his registration, not his capabilities

RE: Your Favorite Boondocking Pics

Thought I would share these pictures of one of my favorite sites in South-eastern British Columbia.

The three dots by the trees are us and two other couples camped for a few days.

This one is my wife at our evening campfire. The white dot on the farside is the only other camper at this time. Our friends arrived the next day.
