RE: OLD GASOLINE

Drive down and fill it up with some fresh stuff on the way to the dealer and it will be fine.
\
Very good advice. I just got my 66 Bronco out off the basement where it has been for over 15 years and it started right up. Haven't driven it yet will add some good hightest and it should be ready to go MO2cents
Just becuase it starts up doesn't mean it's okay. Burning old gas is a cumulative problem with the only solution being a total engine rebuild in the end.
And the theory of using high-test/premium to clean out your engine is also a myth. Using premium fuel in an engine not designed for it will actuallly INCREASE engine deposits.
Also Sta-Bil and Sea Foam preserve GOOD gas, they won't bring bad gas back from the dead.
Well Mouse, I guess one correct statement counts for something

RE: Gelcoat Finish Help

Try polishing and buffing out. Sorry but using a truck wash is just not a good thing, some facilities use acid in the solution.
Not to mention all the water that gets forced into the fridg, heater and W/H vents and then leaks inside the coach.

RE: Strange problem with headlights

I have both the chassis battery and the house batterys disconected( I have the grounds off). I have trouble shot it down to a problem in the day time running light circuit.when I pull the fuse to the day time running light relay my headlights go off. So I am assuming I have a cross to a hot wire somewhere in the wiring harness. Still working on it.
No you don't have both the grounds off or the lights would not come on .....
Check again, I think you have overlooked or confused a battery.
Not parked on a graveyard are you?:B

RE: I want a Diesel Pusher!!

Ok, just venting LOL........but I really do........would love to have one with full paint......used is ok. I really like my Southwind, and love the floor plan.....but would like a motorhome that is slightly bigger, air brakes, and exhaust brake, air ride, (better ride) and inverter.....among other things..........so, if anyone out there would like to donate one.......or even trade of a very nice Southwind 32V......I'm your man.....ok, ok, like I said, just venting.....one of these days though........sure hope Monaco is still around....although I sure like the Tiffins too. So, now everyone knows that I want a Diesel Pusher.......what's that about some place freezing over?? :)
PS: Still looking for that nice lady to join us.........Me and the dogs on our outtings too.

RE: STRANDED! ADVICE NEEDED! (not anymore)

Just checked the chasis manual. Ford doesn't view this as a do it yourself job. The only mention of checking the parking brake res. says see Serv manual.
Still waiting on the part from San Antonio.
Overall I'm pleased with pro tech, but they don't share my sense of urgency and they didn't know the part had fluid in it until I convinced them.
I have done several of them, it is very do-able with common tools
Are you talking about resealing the parking brake assembly? Could you tell us a little bit about the parts needed and the installation of the seals. Mine is leaking about half the fluid in 2000 miles. Do you know if the brake assembly fluid can migrate into the transmission? Thanks.
Once the brake unit is unbolted and on the bench disassembly is pretty much obvious. you will need access to a press to get the bearings off the shaft (and back on). Seals and bearings are available at any good bearing house.
Yes, the oil can leak past the front shaft seal into the main box. You can buy a little emergency time by filling the park brake assy with 90 wt if it is leaking badly

RE: STRANDED! ADVICE NEEDED! (not anymore)

Now there a debate about what type of fluid goes in it, 90w or ATF.
Calls for ATF

RE: Slow-to-start ISC 330 Cummins

I have had diesels not stay running after starting in colder conditions. Its generally due to low cyl temp which would lead me to think you may have weak glow plugs or one or two have given up. Since there is no spark there is a combustion chamber temp needed to keep a diesel running. So if you have 1-2 glow plugs that are not heating properly its possible that it will fire but not be able to maintain and idle and stall.
Please note the engine type before you confuse the issue.

RE: Anyone camped at the Reno Air Races?

I used to go every year when I had my plane. The Optimist Club of Reno has the concession near the main gate toward the pits. Lost of spaces. There is a dump station and water available and yes it is generator. It is dirty. Take a big piece of indoor/outdoor carpet and cover as much dirt as you can. Some guys rent two spaces and have roll out turf placed on the empty spot. It is with a short walk to the main gate or a side gate and easy to go back and forth to the coach. You can stay 10 days or 1 day, same price and you should try to contact the Optimists and make reservations.
Same here, we stayed at the east end near the main gate. And I agree it can be dirty... Its been a few years. so can't give you a current up date... BTW, I got Pappy Boyington's autograph, HA.
And yes we dry camped and ran our Gen set.
Well since Pappy died 21 years ago I would assume things have changed a bit ...;)

RE: Drill hole in wheel?

I did this on Ford wheel on my old E350. After a few years I had two broken wheels. The hole with the sheet metal screw in it must have been a good place for a crack to start as both wheels developed a crack that started at the hole I drilled in the wheel.
It may be ok to drill and tap a hole as that would not have the pressure that a sheet metal screw would inpact on the wheel.
But from my experance I would never drill a hole in the wheel again.
And we have a winner ......
Never drill a hole in a wheel unless you have a ton of liability insurance to pay the guy who takes your broken wheel through the windshield.

RE: Mercedes Benz MH?

Cruising thru E-Bay today and saw this. It has a Mercedes logo badge on it but as far as I can tell it is a 2000 Safari Serengeti!! The touts for it are written oddly lie the persons first language isn't english. We had a 2000 Safari Zanzibar which is similar.
Personally I think the previous owner simply stuck the Mercedes badge on it as a joke. Anybody ever seen one like this?
Link?

RE: Compression brake on a MADP

A Mountain Aire/Spartan with ISL 400 will have an engine retarder, not and exhaust brake. There was a model year where it was just a single stage, I think it was 2003 or 2004, can't remember? What year is your coach? Mountain Aire was also available on Freightliner in that era, and it was a two-stage retarder.
Dutch Stars, when first offered with ISL 400's used exhaust brakes.
Jeff Regan
2000 Dutch Star
Thanks Jeff. I guess I should of said RETARDER !
The 370 or 400 ISL should of had the retarder, IMHO
PacBrake told me last week they have the PRXB with 60 psi back pressure for my 370.
When did Blue Ox put out a exhaust brake???
In 1978 I was driving a 1967 KW with a 262 and a Blue Ox exhaust brake so I think they have been around for a while but I do not think they are the same people that build the towing stuff

RE: sealand toilet splashes out

The vent tube is on the roof. There may be two - one for the black and one for the gray. Some have just one. I don't know which scheme is most common.
It's not unusual for wasps, birds or other critters to build nests in the tubes.
You should be able to run a hose down the tube into the tank to make sure it's clear.
Caution, wasps do not take kindly to being hosed down. Check first.

RE: Monaco Dynasty

Hello, I'm heading to Nashville this week end to check out a 36foot Monaco Dynasty. Its a 1998 with 50K miles 8.3 Big Block Cummins Turbo 325HP,6 spd allison, Roadmaster chassis, diesel gen, and no side out. Are there any areas of concern with this unit good or bad? Is this a solid model coach? Thanks for the info Robbie
I have the 34 ft no slide Windsor from that year and the coach has been pretty much trouble free.
I suspect however that the engine is 300hp, not 325.
