I am having a strange issue with our hot water. The cold tap in the kitchen and bath work fine but when we turn on the hot water tap no water comes out. Any ideas.

Thanks,

John

Check the winterizing by pass valve to be sure it is in the correct position.

Sounds like you have a bad check valve. Had the same problem this past winter and had to replace the one on the outlet side of the tank.

Maybe an odd question but do you have water in the hot water tank and is it hot?

What about the other hot-water faucets? If you still get hot water in the bathroom, it won't be the check-valve.

Just to check the lines, put the bypass valve in the other position, and then try the hot water taps... If water (cold) comes out, the taps are fine, but your hot water tank is not letting water through.

I had the same issue and it was the check valve problem. The valve is generally on the backside of the water heater. It can or cannot be a problem getting to the valve to change. When I found the problem I replaced both valves even though only one was bad. It was cheap insurance and piece of mind that I don't have to replace later.

If you have an outside shower, check to make sure the faucets are shut off and not just at the head of the shower. Common problem.

Check your outside faucets to see if they are off.
Make sure you do have hot water in the tank .
Then see if the mixing valve at the hotwater tank outlet is working correctly
I had to buy a new mixing valve from Atwood
