Jim,
You don't need to use "hardened" washers but if you can find them that is ok also. You should be able to fit about 8 washers on the pin.

I have had 9 washers on the pin, as far as the non hardened washers go, I used just normal ones I had laying around and they started to get hammered & flattened out after a while. I was able to get hardened zinc ones the same thickness for like 3.00 a bag full at a store called "Fastenall".
No trouble after that.

Hey All,

I've got a question on his weights.

Without WD he's at 14120#'s.

With WD he's at 14080#'s.

Where did the 40#'s go????

Regards, Hamshog

The 40# difference most likely is due to scales' error. Cat scales readings, for example, are said to be accurate to within 80#.

Scales usually read out in 20# increments. If the non-WD reading were off 20# in one direction and the WD reading were off 20# in the other direction, the difference would be off by 40#.

No further tweaking required. ;-)

Made a 450 mile trip last Wednesday (returned Sunday). Had plenty of crosswinds to deal with, up to 25 mph. All I felt was a slight sideways push on the whole rig whenever we transitioned from a sheltered stretch to an open field stretch. No sway at all. Same deal when being passed (or passing) a big rig. Very comfortable ride. Cruised right along at 65 mph.

The camping (boondocking) part of the trip was also a complete success. All systems worked as they should.

I and the DW are very happy campers!

All the best,
...jim
