Hi,

I am in the market for a new ultra lite tt and have found a lot of feedback on the most popular brands, already. But I have come across a new floorplan from Skyline called the 248. It is available in several models such as the Nomad, the Mountainview, and the Layton lines. All have the same floorplan but availability is spotty and you just don't hear that much about Skyline products on the net, eventhough the company has been around for 55 years.

Also, I cannot find an owners group/forum online where I can learn more about the brand. There is so much community out there when you talk about Forest River, rvision, Outback, or even Heartland, to name a few. But I am hoping there is somebody on this forum with some experience with the brand.

The floorplan is a fiberglass laminated aluminum framed model.

Any input on the Skyline brand, good or bad, from those who know, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

RV.Net forum member babalu87 has the Skyline 248, so contact him about his trailer!

You don't hear much about Skyline because they quietly turn out products that folks don't generally complain about, and Skyline has terrific customer support also! They are one of the few, or even the only RV manufacturer that has NEVER been in Corporate debt to a Bank! They have made 460,000 RV's over the years, and manufactured 870,000 homes...over $15 BILLION since 1951.

And even tho they are shuttering a few of their plants right now, that's only because they have 5 or 6 plants all over the USA, and are a big builder of manufactured homes and modular homes, of which sales are lacking right now.

And I searched but no Skyline Clubs, maybe they are listed separately under "Nomad", "Aljo", "Weekender", "Layton" owners clubs?

Good luck!

A Skyline product owner for 3 years now (a 2003 Layton), Only work I've done are mods, a solid build in my opinion. In the last few years here on the forum, I really haven't heard anything negative. Very satisfied!

I have owned 3 Nomads over the years and loved them. I had a major problem with the second one, the frame lost camber and caused the wall to crack at the door. The unit was 2 plus years out of warranty but the factory took it, removed the box from the frame, recambered and reenforced the frame, installed the box and repaired everything to new condition at NO CHARGE to me. If they had a floorplan we liked we would have bought a forth rig.

Skyline Malibu owner here.....very satisfied with our unit. We had a little trouble with our unit when we went to pick it up. Skyline and our dealer handled everything beautifully.

Good line of trailers. Don't read much negative about them because there isn't much negative about them.

One member on here did have a lot of problems with his but doesn't seem to be the norm for a skyline product. Keep in mind even the best maker will make a lemon once in awhile. But skyline has so few you just don't hear much.

Was on our short list to buy but the local dealer who sold them kept yanking our chain and tried to pull a bait and switch on us so we walked and found something else.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. Pretty solid built trailers IMO.
