Is the hardware and software in a MAC really worth the 2 or 3 times the price or is it for exclusivity of the OS? or status?
Not demeaning the product, but rather just curious.

with MS, latest OS is the greatest thing, for what, two years, and now this is new one is so much better. How many times can folks be fooled by that crap.
Yup ... and don't forget the mid term (service packs) because things didn't quite work the way they were supposed to.

Wow, how clueless is that ! Switch to Ubuntu, it's only updated every six months.

Not the hardware is not 2-3 times the price. You have to compare hardware to hardware, not some POJ $300 computer with a Mac.

Compare a Sony Viao with a Mac and tell me what you get...

The Sony Vaio and the Mac are priced about the same... Then it is a NO BRAINER.. The Hardware and the Software not just status...Apple sells the Mac mini which is as close as it get to getting to a cheaper computer... Apple has payment plans as well... For like 32.00 a month one can get an IMAC..

I have used PC's since 8088 IBM. My first was a computer by Xerox running CPM. For over 20 years I was a PC diehard and spent loads on PC's over the years. It took my kids to show me the error of my ways. I have since junked all but one PC - it uploads my weather station data to the internet. I can't say enough for the quality, ease of use and stability of the Mac and it's OS. My house is totally wired for Mac use and everything integrates. My Macbook Pro runs XP better than my PC does. For those few programs I need a PC for, I use VMWare Fusion. I don't for see needing a new laptop for quite some time. Once you try a Mac, you'll never go back. Just my opinion.

Why does everyone hold up Sony Viao as a quality machine? My SO had one and it was useless. Back to Sony once and into the trash the next time.

Try this one more time. Creeper, my post was in SUPPORT of the fact that Mac is gaining market share. I absolutely love it, makes $$$ for me. Why you took it to the contrary is beyond me.

I posted the link to the latest Mac service pack because it contains valuable info that I thought some would appreciate knowing about it and this thread is obviously about Macs.

Do not understand the link to the Win7 update in a thread pertaining to Macs. Unless you wanted to point out the fact that MS responds rather quickly to vunrabilities.

Never will understand the fuss about Mac vs PC. Both are good and individual opinions will vary. I support and sell both. See the same problems with both. Each has distinct advantages and the buyer needs to make the choice based on what is best for their situation.
