That's why they make a 50A to 30A adapter.
In the past 2 1/2 years we have used the adapter more times than straight 50A with no problems.....1 A/C, microwave, water heater, coffee maker, electric skillet, TV, DVD, Radio, lights etc.
Dual A/C's at the same time with high draw appliances will trip 30A breaker, otherwise OK.

A couple of years ago we were in a park that was "unique", first time we ever needed an extension cord to be able to plug in. Off the to RV store in town. The weight of the 50 amp cord is a pain so when we saw this 50-Amp Locking Adapter with 25' 30-Amp Cord marked 1/2 price it was a no brainer. We haven't used it very often since but occasionally when we are jut overnighting it is easier to use than the 50 amp and we always have and extension cord if we ever need it again.

Our DP had 50A service and a zillion things to run on the 100A you actually get from 50A RV service. We probably had 30A service more often that 50A though, so we just made the necessary adjustments in how much stuff ran simultaneously.

When we bought our 5er we also bought a meter that plugs right into an outlet that will tell you at a glance if your over amping or under amping. Its pretty straight forward, if its in the green area your fine get into the red area or near it, it is time to cut back on some electric somewhere. Twenty dollar item and looks just like a multi meter. stays plugged in all the time. We put ours by the televison so we can just glance at it from time to time and know how much juice we are pulling or not pulling.

I don't think you can measure amps out of a wall plug. The amp measurement has to be at the power source. You can watch voltage at a wall plug but not amps.

since we'er talking about 30/50 amps here... alittle off the topic somewhat, if I want more info I'll start a new thread otherwise.
Is it possible to upgrade from 30A to 50A? And how?

Yes, you'll need a new circuit breaker box, #6 wire form the box to the outside of your fiver & a new receptcle on the fiver as well as new 50 amp cord to rv pedestal.
