I have been meaning to post this since last winter. There is a butane station outside Melaque. It is on Mex 200 south of Melque/Barre de Navidad. Had a couple of problems with these guys last year. The first time was when we were camping in Chamela. Another camper in the campground was going to make the drive to Melaque for butane and asked if anyone else needed any. I gave him my 20lb'er and he had 2 others plus his making it 4 altogether. When he got to the filling station he unloaded the 4 tanks and the guys took them to be filled. When they brought them back they seemed nice enough and even put them in the back of his truck. He never checked them till he got back to Chamela and found that they had only filled 2 but charged for 4. Rip off #1.
About a week later we left Chamela and headed south. As mine was one of the tanks that did not get filled I stopped at the same place to have it filled. They took the tank to fill it. A few minutes later I was told that there was a leak in my on/off valve and they couldn't fill it unless they repaired it. I thought this funny as the tanks were fairly new. They could fix it for 100 pesos. So I said yes go ahead. Then I thought I should check on these guys and see what they were up to. They had taken my valve out and were replacing it with something out of the dark ages. An old rusty valve. I said forget it and put my old valve back in. They did what I asked and gave me back my 100 pesos. I couldn't wait to get to the next butane filling station to see if my tank would be ok. Sure enough we stopped at a place outside Manzanillo and they had no problem filling my tank

Had no problem getting it filled after that either. Rip Off #2. So keep your head up if you stop for a butane fill here or anyplace else!!

Don't know if they were the same guys but last winter the truck came to our RV park in Tenacatita and the driver and helper had a scam going. They would show a higher ticket after fill up, I caught it because I knew approximately how much I needed, one of my neighbors before me did not. After they left and we started to compare notes, we found that the same charge was applied to each camper, so watch them start the meter on truck to zero and they should give you a reciept that matches.

The refill station in SMA is SouthEast of Town. Super place as you can see them refilling you tanks. Have never heard of anyone having a problem.

I have used the Station at Cihuatlan many times and had Truck delivery several times as well at Boca Beach. I have always received the right amount and never been Ripped Off! Maybe I'm just Lucky!

That is the Location South of Bara deNavidad!

We have had no other problems except at that one spot. I am certainly not painting everyone with the same brush. Just wanted to give a head's up about this station.
