We are campers and while camping/boondocking we have observed quite a difference in outdoor 'fashion'.

We tend to enjoy wearing clothes made specifically for the outdoors and always buy at the local company outlets avoiding full retail.

We notice many people wearing their normal everyday clothes while camping. Part of the fun of camping for us is being outfitted for the conditions with proper outdoor gear.

Even outfitting the baby in outdoor clothes is fun with all the choices available.

How do you outfit the family when camping/boondocking?

I hope you have a flame suit. T-shirts and jeans (generic Gator) works for us.
I sure hope this thread doesn't start a fashion police squad.

Guess I'm a slob cause I never even THOUGHT of planning any kind of specific style. Mostly T shirts and shorts or genes for both DW and myself. Of course I've found that I can ride my mountain bike without a special costume either

HMMM Now there's a dress code for camping???.....I guess I've been doing all wrong....Never did figure out what to wear while sitting bunder the awning or what to wear while enjoying a nice fire.....LOL For me and my family whatever we have in the closet for the weather we are campiing in....shorts tshirts when it warm jeans and sweat shirts when it gets colder and hey If it matches I guess we win a prize...LOL It really just depends on who your camping for if "matching" outfits are your thing then be happy but don't judge those who go out with just the regular old clothes on as we all are out enjoying the great outdoors.......

I wear the same thing camping that I wear to church, jeans and a T-shirt (preferably without holes). As far as the family, I let them pack for themselves. My kids quickly learned that the mountains of New Mexico can get cold, even in July. They didn't believe me the first time we camped but they remember their winter coats now.

I never heard of anything so ridiculous as "dressing for camping". That is way overboard. Wear what you wanna wear with comfort in mind.

Pennys and Sears has some good stuff. When in Quartsite we shop at Beals. In Mexico we stay in the campgrounds, maybe overnighting at Pemex, except in Durango we stay at Sams Club.

Amen to that!

I dress for comfort, not fashion.
According to weather - flannel shirt, tee, slicker, or hoodie - and almost always jeans.

It's nice to have clothing which is suited to a variety of weather conditions and different activities when backpacking or rock scrambling. But for our family camping outings (we tent camp, but car camping, not backpacking), we just dress in layers based on our normal clothing and make sure some of them are quick-drying (especially pants). I think the only "specialty" clothing my husband always packs would be his zip-off pants.

I only wear trail shoes, actually. They keep my ankles from turning while toddlerwearing. So they go camping, of course, but I also wear them on a daily basis at home. I do take my crocs on all camping trips. They work as shower shoes and quick pull-ons in the middle of the night.
