Still thinking about upgrading from our current HTT to a TT. We can't decide if we should go with a bunk house model or not. We have 19 month old twin boys and are hoping to add another kid to the herd soon. Anybody have any experience with kid camping as they get older? I'm wondering if I should buy a bunkhouse model and have a bed for everybody or if the kids prefer to stay in a tent as they get a little older? I prefer the floor plans of the non BH trailers but want to make sure everybody is comfy. Decisions, decisions......

When I was a teenager, my parents had a 20-foot Prowler that easily slept all five of us. However, my brother and I each had our own tent we'd set up for a "private" sleeping area. That having been said, if it was raining or otherwise unpleasant out, we'd usually sleep inside. I'd probably lead toward having plenty of room for the rainy days.

Bunks. Your kids are years away from tenting on their own. A Bunk house gives kids their own space which in turn gives the adults their own space. I may not have gotten everything perfect when choosing my current TT but going with a bunk house was the right move. Kids = bunkhouse

Welcome to the world! we loved our pup for 10 years, had a kid then another, went bunk house TT two years. popped a third sold 2 bunk bought 3 bunk. we love trailers without provisions for kids. But, with kids a private are for them is the best. love being able to cook and make coffee in the morning without kids in the way. If I could figure out how I would have space to put their friends like a four bunker. good luck

Bunks for sure. I would rather pull a 28' fiver with a RL floor plan, but my daughter and son need a place to sleep. Its more than just a bed, its their room. They need this space for games, privacy, takin friends along, and just being inside with their mom and me. My wife would not think of letting our children sleep outside in a tent without us, and I am not going back to a tent.

Thanks for the feedback. Any thoughts on the best BH configurations? I'm eyeballing the Forest River V-Cross series, the 31VBHS in particular Linky What do those experienced with BH models think? Probably a topic to start another thread with, but I wonder if the V-Cross design is an advantage while towing?

We looked at RL floor plans as well. That said, we bought bunks. My kids are 15 and 18. They still go camping with us, they still stay inside. They like heat and AC too much to sleep outside. My son, will however sleep outside in a tent at certain times of the year. I am glad we bought the bunks. When they don't go, it is all storage space. We only have 2 bunks though... not 4.

This is an easy one. Get the Bunkhouse. All my kids are well accustomed to tent camping but when we go with the TT they want to sleep in the bunks (so far). Also you have the bad and cold weather issue. Go with the bunks and you can camp anytime. As said your kids are years away from the tent thing if they even want to do it when the time comes. I`m sure you can find a floorplan to please. Good luck with whatever you choose.
