My wife and I have finally decided the Rockwood 8315BSS may fit our needs the best. The bedroom and bathroom are both large, and the living area is comfortable. It looks to be 1/2 ton towable at 6400 pounds empty. Does anyone have any experience - pro or con - with this unit? Any advice on the available options?

Different model but the same brand (8314SS) and we've towed it over 60,000 miles in three and a half years (40,000 with our F-150). Had only one warranty issue during the two year factory warranty period ($35.00 water module valve on the Thetford toilet). I'd say it's a very well built trailer. My main bit of advice is to assume the tongue weight will be 15% of the GVWR or your trailer. Some half ton trucks will handle a 1,200 lb. tongue weight just fine while others will be limited in what ELSE they can carry while towing. Remember brochure tongue weights are with the basic trailer not when loaded for use. Good luck / Skip

I would check the ratings on the wheels, tires, and axles. Rockwood cuts the specs very close.

My 8315SS weighs 7500# loaded for travel, the BSS model is at least 200# heavier.

I own the Flagstaff version (831FKBSS) of the Rockwood (8315 BSS) TT you are looking at. Wife and I purchased it in April of 2009 and love it! There is absolutly NO difference between the 2 trailers. Our trailer weighed 6908 out the door from the factory and It was very well equiped with options! Tounge weight was 852lbs and we towed very nicely with a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab SB 4X4 hemi. Wife loads it up so we weighed out at 7400 lbs. for our trips not including what was in the back of the pick up truck. Cant tell you what options to get...Tinted windows are nice, they cut down on the heat inside as well as a little better privacy...Spare tire, Slide toppers...I think you will love it!...Good Luck!

We love our 2009 Flagstaff 831FKBSS. Used it for 2 full seasons now since we took an early delivery in June 2008. The carpet like most RV is not the best, you might want to think about the min. carpet option. I think that gives you carpet in the bedroom yet and on the slide out in the front. The power awning that FR is takes a little getting used to but we like it very much now. I would also recommend the 15K A/C, tinted safety glass and the atrium windows. We got the ladder on the rear but rarely use it. Good luck.

We have the 8314SS and love the floor plan. The only problem is the floor is getting soft along the heat vent duck area in the floor. I have visited with other Rockwood Ultra-Lite owners with the same issue. We have pulled it 14K miles in two summers. It is a 2008 model.
