RE: Advice on an 04 Excursion 6.0....

i would look for an Ex with the v10 as they might have lower mileage.

RE: Blow 6.7 ford and tranny brand new

big green filler marked diesel or the little blue one marked exhaust fluid....its very confusing.
However that still wouldnt affect the tranny and why the truck would need both changed.

RE: Blow 6.7 ford and tranny brand new

im not doubting that ford had to replace an engine or tranny under warranty, iut happens all the time, but typically not both at the same time.
Thats a little odd.

RE: Blow 6.7 ford and tranny brand new

its problems werent power related.
But...i dont want to talk about it and get the toyota guys riled up.
I have no reason to doubt you had issues with your Toyota, but my personal experience has been the complete opposite: 1997 4runner needed 1non-maintenance repair (steering rack) in 170k miles & 2002 Land Cruiser, also 1 non-maintenance repair (O2 sensor) in 115k miles. Neither ever left me stranded.
My 2008 F250, which I've owned 6 months, has left me stranded once already.
Everyone's experiences are different, but I think it's a bit hard to argue that Toyota earned a rep for reliability by earning it. I'd buy another without a 2nd thought.
see my 08 ford was one off my best trucks, i only traded it in because i needed a crew cab.
the last time i had visited the toyota dealer was for my 3rd tailgate at which time the rep from toyota informed me i had to remove the gate for loading.
They all have some bad ones, my first dodge, 94 CTD was a great truck, the last one ...well not so good.

Was he in church praying that his dodge would start?...lol
All brands have lemons....im certain ford has a few since they seem to sell the most trucks, at least in my area.

RE: Which daily driver?

If you don't want diesel I would vote for a F150. But if you could be persuaded to go diesel than get a 2011 or newer F350 SRW. The F250 is basically the identical truck as the F350 SRW. (only difference is that the F250 omits one leaf spring which gives it a payload equivalent to a large car.)
LOl...really, i guess at least my large car came with a real 8' bed.
If your concerned about fuel economy get the 150 eco boost, my "large car"...i mean 250 gets about 17mpg in my daily commutte and rides nice for a larger truck.
I got the 250 and havent looked back! BTW, i stepped down from a 350 and still have enough truck for the job i ask it to do.

RE: HD Truck Owners- why did you choose a TT?

for me it is similiar to others, i either have my motorcycle or ATV in the truck bed.
We already owned the trailer and it suites us just fine, one day we might even downsize.
Also my feeling is for a 5er you need a dually and my truck is my daily driver on a 146 mile commutte...no dually thank you.

RE: buying a Ford 6.0???

Per my diesel mechanic when i first started shopping for a used diesel a few years ago. "If you buy a ford 6.0 plan to do one of 2 things, either spend $5k to make it work right or start searching for a good used cummins to transplant into it"
I never owned a 6.0, skipped to the 6.4, but i can tell yo there are some good ones out there...but far many more bad ones.
Hope yours works out to your advantage.

i had a 07 tundra, it could tow quite well for a 1/2 ton. However that is one brand that will never darken my driveway ever again!
