RE: Sheared Pin in Slide

Ran a Metrology Lab, toolmaker by trade. Put Grade 8s in, be sure to take that extra set of gears along. Just my opinion. Call and find out what shipping will be.

RE: Dish Tailgater - how do you secure?

Take you pick, use a cable or a chain with a padlock. You won't stop a determined thief but nobody can just pick it up and walk away either. Enjoy your camping and don't obsess over something that could/might happen. By the way, we have been all over this country and stayed in very nice and some not so nice campgrounds. The only thing we ever lost was a few beers from the cooler during spring break.

RE: Sheared Pin in Slide

Last fall a clevis pin in my slide mechanism sheared off. I believe it is this one: W1245027 GR-1547 Clevis Pin 1/4" x 1-1/8" Stainless Steel found here: http://www.rbwstore.com/Slide-Outs_c_4.html (although the one that fell out didn't look much like Stainless Steel) I used a standard (grade 3?) bolt to fix it. Elsewhere I was told to use a grade 8. Any idea how the shear strength of a 1/4" Stainless Steel clevis pin compares to a grade 3,5 or 8 bolt? (With or without threads?) The old bolt I put in is still working, probably because we are now very careful when operating the slide. No more on/off jerking. Just start it and wait until it stops by itself. Guess I could just order some replacements but would probably pay a stupid amount in shipping to Canada. If you click on the pin noted above, the description says used to pin gears on RBW slide outs. It is what it was made for. Buy a extra which will almost guarantee you will never have the same problem again. The key word here is shear, it is supposed to fail first. If you substitute, and strip the gears you will find out what a stupid amount you will pay for repairs.

RE: 10,000 lb Vehicle weight and the law

Somebody, anybody, please just once post the who, what, where, when somebody got arrested or sued over their actual weight versus the sticker. Don't mean some trucker hauling to many postholes. OK now another cup.

RE: Anode rod

The only ones I know of are aluminum. Take old rod or water heater model to RV Parts store. Not expensive.

RE: This makes absolutely no sense to me

Think you need to talk to your lawyer. The wording is to their benefit, but clearly refers to the item that was replaced not the item it was replaced with. You obviously cannot replace the same exact damaged item twice. This is a good one to forward to Marcus.

RE: Finally got one!

What is your tire size and what pressure are your wheels rated for. With that info we can try to provide more insight.

RE: Camping World Warning!

You need to check into your state's lemon laws and do it soon.

RE: Dangerous Campgrounds

Yep, RespondingBack, Thinking you need to give up the RV lifestyle and find something that interests you that has much less stress attached. Just my opinion.

RE: Pine Creek Rail Trail

Pettecote Junction Campground is the only one I know of on the trail. Has been several years, but it was peaceful, beautiful and quiet. They have hookups and showers. Look at the campgound map and the Trail runs right along side it. We live very close to the Trail. Look here Pettecote Junction

Thermocouple replacement

Anyone have instructions for replacing the oven thermocouple in a Suburban cooktop oven combo. Suburban won't provide instructions. I am capable of doing the work, just don't know the proper way to get at it without breaking something. Really don't want to haul it to a dealer for a relatively inexpensive part. Thanks in advance. RE: Installing Whole Trailer surge suppressor

Needs to be between your park power supply and your power panel. Typically problems are with the park power pedestal. Mine has shut down the power several times during storms.

RE: buying first 5th wheel today/insurance?

We have Progessive, replacement with same for first 5 years, original value I stated after that. Be careful about what auto insurance companies will devalue your unit when you drive it off the lot.

RE: A&E awning to Carefree

Most cannot be adjusted at all. Either in or out. Means you cannot lower one end to allow rain runoff. Cannot lower to block afternoon sun. Should not be tied down. Mine does not cover as much as the manual did.
