RE: New Tires

The Bridgestones price I got quoted for all 6 out the door came to $2750 which I thought was a good price. Anyone ever used these? We've had Bridgestone tires on our gas coach for the past 17 years with zero problems. I highly recommend them, of course ours are 245/70R19.5" size tires. Good luck with your choice and safe travels..

RE: Norcold 1201 LRM plague

We had our 12 year old 1200LRIM cooling unit replaced with the Amish unit in Aug 2012. At a #4 temp setting it functions very well. Proper installation of the cooling unit is critical otherwise it will not function properly. Hopefully, dougrainer who is thoroughly knowledgeable on the installation and functions of these cooling units will come on line and be able to help with your problem. Best regards and Safe travels...

RE: GPS

Our TOMTOM XXL 550TN boat anchor works fairly well, however as a backup we have a marine compass mounted on our dash and maintain a current road map. :B

RE: Workhorse vs Ford

EADEAL55, do you know what year the 2nd gen on the Ford was done? I talked to my RV Repair today and he likes the Ford, which also helps with my decision. In 2000 Ford upped the hp from 275 to 310 @ 4250rpm then in 2006 the 3 valve V10 hp increased to 362 @4750rpm

RE: Looking for new insurance

Well, you may want to check out "Foremost Insurance Company." We've had our first and present coach insured with them since 1995. Our experience with them has been great over the years with prompt, no hassle claim service at a reasonable premium of $691.00 annually for full coverage with $250.00 deductible. Of course our coach is 13 years old, so premium on a newer coach would probably be higher. Good luck with your search and safe travels.... :)

RE: Water pump shuts off for several minutes then restarts??

Another suggestion, check the brand of the pump you have and give the manufacturer a call. Most have technical services folks that can assist you in troubleshooting your problem. Best of luck and safe travels...

RE: Rear air bags ... What psi should they be

After a 1/2 year of owning this new to me 2001 Fleetwood Flair 31A I just discovered two air nipples in the bay where my sewer and electrical are. There is a little plaque that states the air pressure must be maintained to a minimum amount, but that minimum amount of PSI is not stated. I put an air gauge to the nipples and both register zero psi. I called Fleetwood, they said that Ford would have installed the air bags and gave me the number to call, Ford says that Fleetwood would have installed the air bags so I should get the info from them. I gave up and have come here to ask the question. How much air psi should I put in those bags. Thanks Bill. We have the Firestone Ride-Rites on our coach and minimum pressure for them is 5psi and maximum 100psi. Here's a link to their site for information: http://www.firestoneip.com/site-resources/ride-rite/installation/2070.pdf Good luck and safe travels..:)

RE: Tire question from a Newbee

If it were mine, I would replace all tires and try to get load range "F" or "G" if they're available in that size. The TPMS are nice to have, but they won't prevent a tire blow-out due to tire deterioration from age. Good luck with your decision and safe travels...

RE: F53 Oil Change

I found that if you put your levelers down a little in the front that increases the distance between your axle and your engine and you can put your drain pan on top of the axle. Works well for me, no mess at all.. Jim X2, That's what I do, piece of cake, of course if you don't have levelers, then yeah, it would be a PIP (pain in the posterior):B

RE: Ultimate Tow

Well, ultimate tow for us (4-down) is our 2003 Suzuki XL7. Shift transfer case into neutral, put gear selector in "Park" turn ignition key to "ACC" unlocks steering and then just GO. When stopping in rest areas, I start engine, put gear selector to "D" run for a minute or so, then put selector back in "Park", ign key on "ACC" and take off.. Mileage doesn't register on odometer when being towed. No switches to activate and no need to pull any fuses etc.

RE: Koni FSDs - how many miles do you have on them?

So for those who have installed Koni FSDs, how many miles do you have on them? Do they still perform as well as they did when they were new? The context of the question is that my front FSDs wore out in about 25K miles. Basically there is no damping what so ever. I had installed the same shock on the rear some time later, so the rears have less miles. I have since swapped 2 of my rear shocks to the front. That helped some, but I could tell they were also worn with about 15K miles. Since the rears were showing wear pretty fast wear, I can't blame it on the IFS of the front axle. Just really makes me question the long term quality of Koni. I noticed one other class A owner wore theirs out in about the same miles, so just wondering if the lack of complaints is a result of lack of mileage, or are mine and one Country Coach owner's experience unique? SO how many miles do you have on your FSDs, and do they perform the same as they did when new? Interesting, perhaps the FSD's aren't well suited to the P30 chassis. Our first coach was an 84 Airstream Classic 34.5 built on the P30 chassis. Had a problem with coach porpoising pretty bad. So while in Nashville TN on a trip, had some Bear Claw brand shocks installed on the front that virtually eliminated the porpoising. Just noticed some for sale on e-bay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bear-Claw-Shock-Absorber-4-Way-by-Trail-Master-/25115277157

RE: Koni FSDs - how many miles do you have on them?

Had the FSD's installed on the front suspension only, in January 2007 at 46,159 miles. Odometer now reads 80,690 miles so, with 34,541 miles on shocks still working great on our coach. In March 2006 I had rear shocks replaced with Koni adjustable shocks, as I wasn't aware of the FSD's or they may not have been available then. Rear shocks are still OK as well..

RE: Satellite options

Our 2000 coach bought new came with a manual satellite antenna as standard equipment. In 2004 we signed up for service with Direct TV and found it convenient to get programming wherever we go. In 2012 while in Quartzsite AZ we replaced our manual antenna with a Winegard Mini-Max automatic satellite antenna which really woks great. Congratulations on your new Neptune and safe travels...

RE: New Bridgestone Tires and handling issues

Tread depth on the Bridgestone R250F load range "G" tires is 19/32nds" whereas on most other tires, tread depth ranges from 13-16 32nds". As others mentioned running at 110psi could affect handling, I run mine at the minimum of 80psi and no handling problems whatsoever. Also I was under the impression that the later model f53 chassis came with a factory equipped trac-bar on the front suspension, but could be wrong as often I am... :B

RE: Onan Marquis 5500 generator

Thanks for the help! It was the 15in rubber fuel line from fuel pump to fixed metal line that runs to main fuel tank. Had hair line cracks that could not see till I took off. Thanks for the feedback, glad you found the problem. Good luck and safe travels....:)

RE: Bridgestone Tries?

Been using Bridgestone R250F series load range "G" tires on our coach for the past 11 years, outstanding tires no problems whatsoever. Presently, Bridgestone is the only tire I feel comfortable using on our coach. However I've heard good reports on Toyo and Continental tires. Good luck with your tire choice and safe travels...

RE: Intellitec Disconnect - 2000 Coachmen Help!

Bob, our coach uses the Intellitec "Mini-Gas" Battery Control Center (BCC)--Had to replace the isolator solenoid so called Intelitec support and they were very helpful. I ordered the solenoid from them and replaced it myself. You might try giving them a call and maybe they can help with the wiring. Here's their number(s): Sales Engineer Jeff Caudill jcaudill@intellitec.com Direct 847-991-1795 Cell (630-303 1218) Sales Engineer Adam Regnier regnier@intellitec.com Cell ( 313 ) 510 2052 Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.. RE: Ford vs Workhorse ??

The Workhorse develops it's peak torque and horsepower at LOWER RPMs than the Ford. INHO, lower RPMs = less engine wear. -Tom True, pre 2006 Ford v10 develop peak torque & HP 250 rpm's higher than the GM v8. The 2006 and later Ford v10 still develops peak torque 250 rpm's higher than the GM v8 however peak HP is developed at 750 rpm's higher han the GM v8
