RE: Theft

Lost a BBQ lighter 11 years ago, it was sitting on the picnic table next to my grill. Must have walked off on it's own! :E I never lock anything other than the coach door when we leave the site.

RE: A sure sign yur getting older but not giving up

I'm 65 this year, been retired 5 years and now we really enjoy just taking our time when traveling. It takes us 4-5 days to get to South Carolina from Montreal. We stop over a couple nights at campgrounds that we enjoy and explore the area with our toad. In the past, I would have simply blasted down in 2 days and get stressed out; no more! :C

RE: Leaving travel trailer/5th wheel year round in US Southwest

My winter neighbor at Myrtle Beach Travel Park (SC) has a Mobile Suites 5th wheel that stays there in storage when he's not using it. He lives in Ontario and has US insurance on it. The storage company brings it back & forth from storage to his site. It has a SC registration.

RE: Proposed Immigration rules for Snowbirds

I guess we'll have to wait and see what the details are. We have a seasonal campsite in Myrtle Beach for 6 months, from October 1st to April 1st. We have a summer one for 5 months in the NY Adirondacks from the 2nd week of May to the 2nd week of October. I wonder if we would qualify!
In effect we maintain campsite rentals for 11 months a year but we will only occupy them a total of around 150~160 days a year due to current regulations.
The other issue is our total time out of Quebec for our medical coverage. So far they have stated that because we often cross back and forth throughout the summer months we would be ok if we exceeded the 6 months limit in total days. I just don't trust them!

RE: Myrtle Beach Travel Park?

I could not get reservations here, there were no sites available for the times we had available this summer.
Is Myrtle Beach Travel park overly crowded in the summer months?
I would call it 'full' as opposed to 'over crowded'. Essentially all sites are either occupied or already reservation assigned. It would be much the same at all of the big MB commercial parks, Ocean Lakes, Pirate Land etc ...
You might try Apache which sometimes has space or one of the state parks.

RE: Prepaid phone for use when in Canada...HELP

I agree that it can be very confusing. We spend about 6 months a year in the US spread over a 10 month period and have a Canadian plan that we use. I have never found an economical way to have a cell phone that will work everywhere with all the moving back and forth that we do.
We use the internet for regular communication and a cell phone for very brief conversations with family when we are not in a wifi area. I keep my cell phone on 7/24 for emergencies and unless I actually use it, I do not incur roaming charges.

RE: Border crossings which one is the best

X2 for 1000 islands.
I90 Buffalo to Syracuse is toll, straight and boring.
401 believe it or not is much more interesting.
401 rough and under construction, Napanee to Kingston. You may want to take 49 south toward Picton and pick up #2. Cheap "Native" fuel 3km S on 49. #2 is slow through Napanee however.
Sorry, I meant to quote your post, not edit it. :o
X3 for 1000 Islands, done it several times, it's also a scenic drive. :C

RE: Ford or Workhorse 2005 and newer, Who's Better ?

Before buying our 09 HR Admiral new I had the opportunity to test drive both the Ford and the GM versions of the same coach. I found the GM quieter and more responsive; I also like the Allison transmission. We've now had our GM 8.1L for 5 years and I'm very happy with it.
