RE: just feeling upset

If the dealer has been around long enough to sell you 3 units, then this ain't their first rodeo. If they make a practice of accepting units "sight unseen" then this is not the first time they've been surprised either. If they can't sell it retail they'll wholesale or auction it. Don't feel sorry for them. They'll do fine. I'm frankly wondering about their motive in even telling you. You did nothing wrong. I would start looking for another dealer.

RE: Theft

We've been very lucky in our travels, except once. On a planned long walk with the dogs, one of them pooped 2 minutes in. Rather than carry the bag all that way, I set it beside the trail to pick up on the way back. Some rascal stole it before we got back. Probably Hondavalk's pot smoking raccoons. :E

RE: Camping World in Colorado Springs

I guess I've never thought of Campingworld's service department as providing that type of service. I know they install items they sell, provide basic services, etc., but wouldn't have thought of them for extensive repairs. That said, I'm sure you thought they might help, and their customer service still fails as, under the circumstances, they should have helped you locate someone to help if they were unable to. Glad its working out for you; it could have been much worse.

RE: Spike in illnesses--Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks

Yet another reason I'm always happy to have my living quarters along with me.

RE: My 6.0 actually has a little problem (Rollingrock)

Well, that should make you feel better...a little...kind of...yeah, it would be driving me nuts, too. That is the beauty of the gauges, though. At least you can keep an eye on it. Hopefully it never happens again.

RE: Theft

I'm not paranoid about having stuff stolen but I do use diligence in keeping most of my stuff secure. My thought is it won't keep the crooks away but will keep the honest people honest. You must not get out much! :B I am 45 and have heard since I was a kid. I've heard it all my life too. Perhaps a southern thing.... No, I've always heard it in the north too. You folks getting offended, please relax. Just an old saying meaning to take minimal precaution "to keep the honest people honest". We all know honest people won't steal it anyway; dishonest people will find a way to take it no matter what, if they want it. I'm sure no offense was intended.

RE: 5th wheel cover

Do you have to be a memeber at CW? Dont have any of those up here and are they every where? Do you remember what you paid for it? Thanks! If you are a member of Good Sam you should be able to get the discount at Campingworld. I believe this to be true, but much has changed in the last few years. I paid less than $300 for mine, which is a universal size. I got one larger than my unit. You could also order from their website, if that works for you. By searching 'rv covers' on the Web, you will also find other sellers, and may get a better price. CW always runs a sale on covers in the fall.

RE: 5th wheel cover

Next year will be my 6th using my Adco Tyvek cover. I bought it at CW, and have been very happy with it. Tyvek has the extra vinyl layer on the roof which I believe helps to repel water. Put on and take off by myself.

RE: Theft

40 years of camping, here's my list: Pack of hotdogs out of cooler by Racoon (tent) Pack of hotdogs off picnic table by Racoon while putting stuff away (TT) Pack of marshmallows off the chair right next to me by Racoon.(TT) And in my youth, bag of pot by unknown source (suppose it could have been Racoons since they didn't take my wallet and left my money) (tent) I think you've got the order wrong. Obviously the raccoon stole your pot first, then got the munchies. ;) As for me, only thing I've lost was a wrought iron flag holder, with flag, in a state park on a holiday weekend. Pretty sure it was kids, as there was a rash of pretty items taken, and other mischief that night. Another reason we rarely camp on holiday weekend anymore.

RE: Nature's LEDs

I believe the synchronous fireflies at GSMNP just peaked at the lower elevations. Haven't seen that show, but its on the bucket list!

RE: Installing wax disk

X4. Used the same one for 5 seasons now, still in great shape.

RE: Installing wax disk

If it fits at all over the pin, just get it on and let it seat itself when you hook up.

RE: Am I Lazy? Need to Wash the RV

Bar Keepers Friend is similar in that it is a powdered product. It its called what it is because it has enough coarseness to clean surfaces, yet will not scratch them, i. e. the bar. You need something that will effectively remove old wax, dirt, etc., before you apply the RMP or Zep. BKF will do that. Just make sure you rinse very well.

RE: My 6.0 actually has a little problem (Rollingrock)

Good luck, RR. Hope it proves to be easy. I'll keep an eye on this thread, too, at least until the boys show up!

RE: lake Michigan Routing

No problems going up w side of lower pen., and I can't imagine 2 causing you any problems. As far as sights, sleeping bear and mackinac island are don't miss, imo. If your able to go further north in up, I'll add soo locks at Sault Ste. Marie, shipwreck museum at whitefish point, and pictured rocks. Lots of others, too.

RE: Simple Cast Iron Question...I hope

I don't see any reason why you can't use a plastic bag. Even better, I use the canvas storage bags made for the purpose. Lodge, Cabelas, Bass Pro all carry them. I was unaware of this...I am now headed to Cabelas web site to check it out. Thanks! As I reread your post I see your referring to pans. I was thinking Dutch Ovens, for which there are the carry cases. Sorry, didn't mean to mislead you. I use a pillow case for my pans. I'm not aware of any commercial cases for pans.
