RE: Our new Dodge is higher & we need a new "doo-hicky"

It's called a Drop Shank....
Pretty much any decent RV Hitch shop should have them, but they're not cheap.
My new Dodge required a new $150 drop shank. But you might ask your dealer if they have old ones in the shop. Mine had a bunch, but none (of course) were the right size.

Ellie Mae (Donna Douglas) is going to turn 80 years old in September. Good luck with that no swim suit requirement. :)

RE: Saw these super cool RVs today

You guys break me up. Someone posts some cool stuff and you have nothing better to do than whack away. Of course they aren't needed here...but you aren't being asked to buy one. The poster is simply saying 'hey look at this'.

Well said, Gary! I wonder how these Fun Police are going to react when (if?) they see Heaven.

How could a post with the title "Beware of Michelin Tires" possibly cause problems?

RE: Very major and costly recall for Chrysler pending

Could it be that there is some legitimacy on both sides of this issue? For the life of me, I just don't understand why everything has to be reduced to a simplistic, good guys vs. bad guys scenario, complete with accusations of dishonesty, playing politics, you-did-it-first, etc. It's no wonder we have trouble addressing the real issues facing the country.

We also stepped down -- from a 5th wheel to the Flagstaff Micro-Lite 21FBRS. Love it!

RE: Electric trailer tongue jack?

I thought about buying an electric jack but I probably need the exercise involved in cranking the manual one. Then I wondered what I would do if the motor quit at a campground -- what would the backup plan be?
They all come with a manual crank and are actually easier to crank then the non electric jack.
Barney
Well! In that case I might have to take another look!

RE: Driving with Hazards On!

When I approach a vehicle who's using 4-way flashers, there are two possibilities:
a) He/she is a knowledgeable driver who is informing me of a potential hazard in a legal and proper way, or
b) He/she is not using the flashers in a legal or proper way due to ignorance, incompetence, or DUI.
In both situations I am thankful that the use of flashers provides me with information I need in order to avoid either the hazard or the idiot driver. No complaint here!

RE: Progressive RV Insurance Scam

My experience is that there are significant differences between insurance companies. I have been very happy with Cincinnati Insurance -- they aren't the cheapest, but they pay quickly and completely. Never a hassle.

RE: Need dealer in Atlanta who knows Ram CTDs

I went to Akins and was impressed with the whole operation. My salesperson, Ron Marsh, set me up with a new 2013 CTD 2500 Laramie SB. Wow! I need to go back to school to learn how to operate the electronics on this thing. It's so quiet, smooth, and very powerful. I do (sometimes) miss the raw clatter of my '98 24-valve, but I'm also glad that I don't have to endure it for hours on the road. I feel as if I've traded in my P51 Mustang for the starship Enterprise. Just wish I could have kept them both...

RE: Need dealer in Atlanta who knows Ram CTDs

Akins in Winder isn't too far from me, so I think I'll mosey on up there tomorrow. The Ramtrucks.com web site has been giving me fits all day. First, it hasn't been loading at times and I get error messages. But the real issue is I can't figure out what all the options mean and what models they are available on. The way they list standard and optional equipment is so confusing. Maybe looking at in-stock models will help clarify things for me.
Thanks to those of you who recommended dealers. That's very helpful & gives me some places to start looking.

RE: Need dealer in Atlanta who knows Ram CTDs

Actually normal to know more than the average salesman. If you order one, double check the order sheet yourself and get a copy.
Really capable and experienced diesel mechanics typically make more money with better benefits working on OTR trucks, heavy equipment and stationary engines. Rare to find one at a car dealer. Good luck.
I suspect you are right. Bummer. Good idea about checking the order sheet.

RE: Diesel Fuel

I was told some years back that my early model Ram 24-valve injection pump (VP44) will not tolerate biodiesel. It has always seemed like a good idea not to challenge that advice. I have never heard such cautions about any other trucks, however.

Need dealer in Atlanta who knows Ram CTDs

My 98.5 Cummins diesel is still going strong but when traveling with our TT my wife wants less noise, more comfort. So I'm looking to buy a 2013/14 2500 from a Ram dealer in or near Atlanta who actually knows about CTDs. I went to one the other day where I knew more about options and delivery issues than anyone there -- they were clueless. My buddy took his to another local dealer who cross-threaded his oil filter! Can anyone in the metro area give me a referral to a dealer who:
1. Has at least one knowledgeable diesel mechanic
2. Doesn't let idiots touch diesels
3. Has a sales force which knows something about Ram HDs
Or am I dreaming?

Can't find a 2013 2WD Ram CTD

I've been considering a new truck, since my old one is a bit noisy and DW has been making noises about getting something more comfortable. So I went looking for a new 2013 Ram CTD CC SB 2WD -- or something close to it -- just to drive it & see if the high cost of a new one would be worth it. Come to find out I can't locate a new 2WD CTD within 100 miles of Atlanta! The trucks in stock are all 4WD. Weird. Did I miss something?
