Refrigerator temp

We are planning to take the ferry to/from Newfoundland/Nova Scotia and were debating which route to take, 7 hours or 14 hours. Our question is how long will the refrigerator/freezer retain adequate temps if we add ice? Propane has to be turned off and our refrigerator does not work on 12V.

RE: Campground Reseravations in the Maritimes Provinces

We will definitely look into the park passes.

Campground Reseravations in the Maritimes Provinces

We plan to spend about 2 months in the Maritimes in July and August. We prefer to stay in Provincial campgrounds if possible. Will we need to make reservations? Where we live in Georgia, you just about have to make reservations at the state parks for the weekends or you will not find a spot. Also if Provincial Campgrounds are not available will spots be available at private campgrounds without reservations? We are not opposed to reservations, but we want to keeps our scheduled as flexible as possible. One last question. How long in advance do you need to make reservations for the ferry to Newfoundland?

RE: Trip to newfoundland

Glad I found your post since it has some good info. DW and I are also planning to go to Newfoundland this year. The ferry is expensive, but we have been saving our money so unless gas prices really soar, we are going. Will be leaving from Middle Georgia sometime in early July. We went to Alaska last year and had a great time. We believe that this trip will be just as fun.

RE: Alaska - 1st trip recommendations GIVE US YOUR INPUT

DW and I went to Alaska last year. Talking about the bad roads, we had one flat tire. It was on our first day while driving through Nashville, TN. I highly suggest you get Mike Church's "Traveler's Guide to Alaskan Camping:Alaska and Yukon Camping with RV Or Tent". If you learn to use the gas price guide it will more than save you the cost of the book. It is not 100% accurate, but it is very close and it will tell you not to buy gas in Muncho Lake, BC like we did. It was also great on helping finding affordable campgrounds. I also vote on taking the Top of the World Highway. It was one of the most awesome part of the trip. It was dry when we took it so that may have helped us. Have a great trip. It will be hard not to enjoy it. Oh and we took it by ourselves, but before too long you will be meeting so many new friends that it will seem like you are not by yourselves.

RE: Ok Straight through Atlanta - I75

Maybe some people know something that I don't know, but I always thought we could not use the HOV lanes going thru Atlanta. It is limited to 3 axles and I have four. Maybe there is an exception for RVs that I do not know about. As already stated timing is everything when going thru Atlanta. Avoid rush hour.

RE: A Thank You to Macon, GA Camping World

Robsouth is correct. Officially the CW is in Byron, GA about 10-15 miles south of Macon, but since most travelers do not know Byron saying south of Macon on I-75 works.

RE: Down town Atlanta, Ga.

Just keep your eyes open for which lane you need to be in when I-75 and I-85 come together. You could find yourself going on I-85 if you are not careful.

RE: Another season comes to an end....

We have had our best year camping so far, 177 nights camping of which 113 was our Alaska, Washington, Oregon coast, and Redwood Forest trip. We still have a couple more trips planned for the year so we will camp for more than half the year. Retirement is good. We are also planning next years trips, which sounds like it should be close to the OPs trip this year to the Maritime Provinces.

RE: Rv park near Moab

We were in Moab a little over a month ago. We stayed at OK RV Park, because it was a Passport America Park. It is on the south side of town, so you had to travel a little to get to Arches, but it was worth it. All the other recommendations above are also good. It is hard to go wrong since Arches is such a wonderful place.

RE: military rv parks

I am a retired DOD civilian and can use most FamCamps/Military Recreations Areas. On our recent trip to Alaska and back we stayed at 8 such places. If you qualify they are usually pretty good places to stay.

RE: Taking a Travel Trailer through Zion National Park.

I think that will be the way we will go. We recently went on the Top of the World Highway in Yukon and Alaska and had no problems. This cannot be any worse.

Taking a Travel Trailer through Zion National Park.

I know about the escort requirement through the tunnel in Zion National Park, but I also saw where they do not advise pulling a Travel Trailer though the park if the TT and truck is over 50' in length. We are 48' in length. We are trying to determine if we would be okay. Has anyone experienced this road with a TT near this length? We are going to Capitol Reef after leaving Zion and this is the closest route.

RE: Going to Oregon, where to stay?

DW and I are returning from our Alaska trip and are staying a few days on the Oregon coast. We wanted to visit Portland for a week, but after 2 days it was too hot to stay there. We really loved our visit to Waldport. We visited many of the local beaches to check out the tide pools. All of them were so different. We stayed at Chinook RV Park about 3 miles out of town. It was very nice. The owners were great and the CG was kept in very good condition. We are now in Jessie Honeyman State Park. Only water and electric hookups, but a very fun place to visit. Good luck on have fun RVing.

RE: Windshield cracks on Alaska trip

DW and I are in Fairbanks now having left Georgia in mid June. No problems with the windshield. Now tires are a different story. We had a flat tire on the TT going through Nashville. It was fun changing it on the interstate. Also I believe it was in Dawson Creek, we picked up a nail in one of the tires on the TT. We saw it before it became a problem and had it repaired in Whitehorse. We took the Top of the World highway with no problems. It was totally awesome.

I pop in while DW is still sleeping. It is weird going to bed when the sun is still out. We have not seen the night in a couple of weeks.

I agree the doctor should lose his license. I didn't try to comment on another thread, I just plain old do not have any idea what I am talking about, except for LAST from Fort Nelson, B.C.
