RE: RGV now Az. shd we Cal-am there?

Hello, Hey I haved lived in Mesa, AZ for 30 yrs now after college at UNL and hometown around Norfolk. There is a large Nebraska contigent in the Phoenix/Mesa area. There is a large winter visitor contigent of all midwest states and Canada. We have our model airplane club meetings at this park. viewpoint I do not stay at this park/resort but many in our club do. I am amazed of all of the activities and how active it is. I am not retired but If I was this seems to be a great place to enjoy the winter and make friends and have fun. Arizona has so many winter visitor parks that I would stay at a place like viewpoint the first year and while you are here you can network with others during activities or just have fun visiting them and checking them out. Tucson is also great location. I would not stress out finding the perfect place the first year use that time for recon. You will not be steared wrong starting at Viewpoint and maybe that will be the best place. Rgds.,

RE: Dometic not working on gas

Hello, How is the diagnostic going? I have searched on youtube and found this video for reference. Watch this video and take special note about a gas shut off valve in that compartment and make sure it is on all the way. RE: Dometic not working on gas

Hmm, Just some easy stuff first, What is the make and model of the fridge? Is your propane supply low? or valve on the tank not turned up all the way? Can you hear LP burner in the fridge kick on? Older appliances that have a pilot light they(pilot) must heat a thermal safety switch that will then allow gas going to the burner. This is to ensure that the pilot light is burning when the gas is turned on or flowing to the burner for explosive reasons. It is good that the AC mode works because that means the main system is working(creating heat via AC power) you just have to get the LP burner to run. Sometimes the air to fuel mixing area just before the burner can get dirty or maybe even some cobwebs or spider webs and the like. You can get a brush at rv supply places to clean this out. 1.) Check your propane supply? Pilot light can still work if low but a higher demand such as a stove and fride burner cannot. 2.) Clean fuel air carb area. You can search youtube for a video of this procedure. 3.) Check the thermal saftey lp switch for proper operation check youtube again ideas how to do this safely. Please remember if you smell gas than means it is not getting combusted and the risk of explosion is large. Be safe don't smoke when doing this and let you nose be your guide with safety.

RE: Looking at a Jayco Jay Flight: 26BH or 28BSH

Hello, We have a 2005 jayflight 25RKS we bought new and I also understand getting it right the first time. We mostly camp in AZ to beat the heat in the summer time but have gone to Iowa and Nebraska from AZ 4 times also. We have had My wife and I and 2 almost adult kids and 2 dogs on the cross county trips. We have a baby slide out for the couch area. I think it only goes out about 2ft. If the extra cost and weight are not an issue get the larger one. Your kids are young enough so you can use your TT to make many family memories and tall enough now that the extra 2 ft will payoff in the years to come. I have wished for 2 more ft. during those long trips and just a baby slide makes a big difference.

RE: 120 VOLT REFRIG'S

Hello, Here is a link to a bigger AC/DC fridge fridge This is a 2 door 7 cuft model pulls about 3 amps DC it states (36W). I don't know how much$.Looks like ~$1300. Yipes! $1300 you could buy generator, extra batteries and inverter along with the 120 volt fridge and still be ahead.

RE: 120 VOLT REFRIG'S

Hello, Here is a link to a bigger AC/DC fridge fridge This is a 2 door 7 cuft model pulls about 3 amps DC it states (36W). I don't know how much$. That is a very amazing low power. I would estimate about 25 to 35 amp hours of current at 12volts/day. I used the smaller model at 1 amp draw camping in the cool mountains and 2 group 27's lasted 7 days no problem. hope our responses help!

RE: 120 VOLT REFRIG'S

Hello, I have replaced a refrigerator in an old pickup camper with a AC/DC marine fridge see: fridge We can use those specs to help. The standard RV fridge that also uses propane and the "gas absorption" method works great because it uses heat to create the cold in the fridge. The propane has a great amount of heat/thermal unit and weight. When an absorbtion method fridge does not use a propane flame and runs on AC it uses a resistive heater element like your toaster to create the heat. The marine style fridge AC/DC seen in the link above it uses a compressor just like your home unit but the motor that runs the compressor is a DC motor. This allows you to run the compressor without having to convert AC to DC and burning through power in the conversion process as that is not 100% efficient. Normal home/apt fride units that only run on AC only cannot run on DC and you have to convert your DC battery to AC and depending on the amoount of money you spent on the converter can can experience 70-90% effecient when not connected to AC. So so you can make sure you compare apples to apples on your search for compressor style units you must convert to power(watts). The fridge in the link above is DC current of 3 amps at 12 volts. You just multiple the amps x the volts to get watts =36 watts. The AC specs for that fride is .7 amps x 120 volts = 84 watts. Wow can you see the power difference due to the fridge converting the AC back to DC. Make sure you convert to power to compare power demand. When you plan on running on AC only fridge when not connected to AC I would use about 40% run time on the fridge and 50% conversion eff. I looked up an energy star rated 120 volt only fridge like you are talking about uses about 1.0 to 1.5 amps. I will use 1 amp times 120 volts which is 120 watts. If you then expect it to run 40% of time depends on ambient temp but 120 watts time .4 is 48 watts. Then the 48 watts times 1.5 for the 50% DC to AC conversion loss is up to 72 watts/hr. I could keep going but you see the math AC only you will burn up almost 3 times the battery life. You will save $'s on AC only fridge and that is a good plan if you are connected to AC when you use your RV. If you are not connected to AC the propane fridge are the best.

RE: Ac

It depends, What is the make, model, BTU's of your AC? Is it a 15 amp circuit? Is anything else on this circuit? A normal house 110 volt circuit is 15amp rated. 15 amps x 110 volts is a 1600 watts. The normal current for most TT is 30 amps. I can connect my trailer to a 15 amps circuit with nothing else connected on that circuit. The AC run fine with this set up with a few more caviots. Heavy Duty 30 amp power cord to house plug. Can't run anything else in TT without manually shutting off AC. If TT batterie(s) are charging this additional current could be a problem.
