RE: 1995 28ft Georgie Boy, Chevy 454, P30 chassis

Yeah I am sure mine is a P30 and I like it very much and I was under it yesterday and it looks very solid. the wheels seem pretty close to the outside. I am pretty positive that it is a P30. It has IFS suspension in the front. My GMC RTSII bus has the same IFS suspension in the front (much bigger and heavier) and in the place of coil springs there are very large airbags. I am very impressed with this chassis. the motorhome is solid as a rock on the road.
You have no coil springs or air bags inside the coil springs

RE: the worse built motorhome you can think of

Yes I think a P30 chassis is great. I think my Holiday Rambler has that chassis. It has a tag axle. But I think it is a great chassis. When I drove my Holiday Rambler home, I was passed by truckers (naturally) and never swayed or moved. it felt solid as my buses. I like the p30 chassis.
Well since I own one I guess it gives me the right to say the P30 chassis is the biggest POS out there. Wish I knew 11 years ago what I know now.

RE: Dicor Roof Coating

Didn't use the Dicor brand but the stuff we did use has a base coat (primer) and top coat just like the Dicor. I think our TT roof looks better than it did when new and the whole process wasn't that bad....just time consuming to do it right and make it last. Here's a link to my post if you are interested. Good Luck.

Did you pull up your a/c unit or roll around it? Looks great to me. I hope mine comes out that good.

RE: 1995 28ft Georgie Boy, Chevy 454, P30 chassis

Do yourself a favor and don't get a P30 chassis. Save your dough and get the wide trac chassis I think it came out in 1999. The P30 with the wheels 48inchs on center blows.

Dicor Roof Coating

Well I have watched a couple of YouTube videos and did a search and read a little but thought I would ask anyway. Weather permitting Saturday I'm gong to coat my rubber roof with Dicor two part EDPM rubber roof coating system. Anyone been there and done that have any tips or tricks? My roof is almost 20 years old and looks to be in great shape except for some areas that are black. I was going to just pull it off and put new rubber down.

RE: Safe-T-Plus problem

This is from the installation instructions:
"Road Test & Adjustment: To ensure proper alignment and installation of the Safe-T-Plus unit, the vehicle should be road tested. Take along a socket wrench to fit the U-Bolts on the Tie Rod. While driving on a straight stretch of road, vehicle should easily follow a straight course, if not adjustment is necessary. To adjust; hold steering wheel in a STRAIGHTFORWARD position, stop vehicle, and set brakes. Loosen nuts on Tie Rod U-Bolts and allow unit to self center. (Frequently this movement is not noticeable). Retighten nuts and test drive again. Repeat this step if necessary until vehicle will hold a straight line. Note: You must hold the steering wheel in a straight forward position, with the engine running, until the adjustment has been completed. Otherwise the wheels will return to the pulling position instead of the straight-ahead position desired."

RE: A/C units

Don't want to hijack this thread but I have a 50amp service and have used a dogbone to plug into 30amp and have run both a/c at the same time. Will this harm the a/cs? Should I not do this.

RE: The elephant behind the palm tree...

How many of us have gotten the "RV salute" on the Interstate highways?:h I'm a RVer, and wave (salute) all RVers that I see along the highway that I travel, whether or not I'm driving my motorhome. A wave is a form of salute. Not sure what you are referring to, but don't think it is any type of salute.
Nope... Bikers "wave" to each other, RV'ers "wave" to each other... Boaters "wave" to each other... But people in cars who want to go 85 MPH instead of follow at the speed limit have a special "salute" for us... Well, come to think of it... for anyone who gets in their way.... it looks like this... http://www.rjpictures.com/images/smilies/flipa.gif(but, without the grin...)LOL!!!
Don't forget about us jeeps

RE: Doberman

Depends on why you're leaning towards a Dobie. If you think that this dog will make you look like a Bad A**, you will be mistaken
I was one of those years ago and didn't need a dog to do it. :W

It seems to me that with longer eye bolts i can slide the fulcrum further back than i will have the extra threads to pull the springs back further.Am i wrong with this theory?
Let us know how expensive it is to replace the springs after you stretch, break and lose a few of them. Inquiring minds want to know.
I dont think that would be a problem He lost a couple already.

RE: Doberman

Given a choice I would get something else that's much smaller because if you stay at private CG's you will have endless problems.
I have a mini Schnauzer now. Always liked the look of a Doberman and have done alot of reading on them. My niece works for me and she lives at the business here. She has a 7 year old German Shepard that is nasty. If you turn your back on it it nips you. She also has a two year old Pit Bull that is the biggest baby. This dog can't stop licking you. I really think it has a Problem.

RE: Working under my Class A

The answer to the question is how much space do you have without the jacks. If you can fit under the coach without the jacks, but are just using the jacks for extra working space, then obviously there is no problem using the jacks. I use manual hydraulic jacks under my coach all when I'm not at home, but I can fit under the frame of my coach, so if the jack were to collapse, I would not be crushed. Might be a bit tight scooting back out, but it wouldn't kill me.
I do find it a surprise that most people can not fit under their coaches. I can easily fit under my dad's coach, which is a W22 chassis. My coach is lower to the ground that any modern coach, so it seems odd that it could be a problem.
A gasser yes but some of these DP can get very low with the bags deflated.

RE: steer safe

I theory that is correct but what if you over-extend the springs? Those springs were designed at that length for a reason. You may be able to stretch them further, but you have to wonder why they didn't do that at the factory. You also have to think about the eye bolts that you want to use. Are they the cheap Chinese eye bolts found at Home Depot, or are they the hardened steel eye bolts supplied by the factory?
If you stretch the springs past the point of no return, they would be weaker, and it could make the whole unit useless.
Thousands of people have used SteerSafe as designed. Take a good look at the installation instructions and figure out what you are doing wrong.
