RE: 2013 Focus lights and break-away switch

Thanks Nick. I'm sure the 5-speed version is the same. Even my Dealership, who is generally pretty good, doesn't really know.

RE: 2013 Focus lights and break-away switch

What about the steering column lock? Doesn't a 2012/2013 Focus have one? Couldn't find an answer before and I'd like to know before I tow mine. It'd sure make things a lot simpler.

RE: 2013 Focus lights and break-away switch

Jim, I'm not using the socket mounting posts near the center of the grill for getting electric to the Focus. Those posts are where I mount the breakaway switch. Bob

RE: 2013 Focus lights and break-away switch

I also have a 2013 Focus but it's a 5-speed. Didn't like the procedure for towing an automatic so I can't help there. However, I've installed a completely separate lighting system that is powered by the MH. A power line also runs from the MH to a Toad-Charge unit because I use a power line from the Focus battery to power my Even-Brake. As for the breakaway switch, I made an adaptor that will use the 2 rods that a receptacle is usually installed to. The MH umbilical cord will run back and into the engine compartment where it will mates with a 5-wire plug. I don't want to cut away more of the grill than I have to. I'm having the base plate installed Tuesday and when I have it all together I'll send you a few pics (if you send your e-mail address to me at rmmpe@yahoo.com). If all is as I expect on the Focus, the steering column doesn't lock so I won't have to leave a key in the ignition.

RE: 2013 Ford Focus brake light signal to Even Brake

Corkey, Thanks for the replies. I have my manual and have installed the Even Brake on 2 other vehicles (2002 Cougar and 2007 Edge), both of which required a signal to the ICX controller from the brake light switch (or from a brake light lead). There is no problem connecting the Even Brake. The problem lies with the point of no 12 VDC to the brake light switch unless the ignition is turned to "ON". In truth, I'm trying to work around the ignition switch to get power to the brake light switch without modifying the circuit(s) of a brand-new car (the plug on the switch has 4 leads and is very difficult to get to).

RE: 2013 Ford Focus brake light signal to Even Brake

Corkey, I understand that. But, the brake light switch must have power in order to send the signal to the Even Brake when the pedal is pressed. Without the ignition in the "ON" position, there is no power to the Focus's brake switch. I have an entirely seperate Stop/Turn/Tail light circuit for normal running.

RE: 2013 Ford Focus brake light signal to Even Brake

I'm absolutely certain. In fact, other than the hazard blinkers and interior lights, none of the lights illuminate unless the ignition is in the "ON" position. I had the same issues with my 2002 Cougar but that had an easy workaround.

2013 Ford Focus brake light signal to Even Brake

I have a 2013 Focus SE that I will be towing. I also have a Roadmaster Even Brake that will be used. However, the Focus's brake lights do not illuminate or send a signal to the Even Brake without the key being in the on position. Roadmaster sells an adaptor to get a signal to the Even Brake but that doesn't solve the problem of not having the Focus's pedal actuated brake lights. Has anybody run into this problem and if so, how did you get around it?

RE: 2013 Ford Focus

How much, if any, of the plastic grill/facia did you have to cut/remove to allow the baseplate to be installed?

RE: 76 dodge brougham front suspension

Spot-on about the ignition module. I'd remove the screws and place a 'star' washer on it before reinstalling it (don't over-tighten the screw). True story: I was Project Manager at the old Lynch Road Assembly plant in Detroit and coordinated the $73m 1979 "R" car changeover (the last full-size Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth cars). Being the 1st plant to incorporate robots, it was then big news. Consequently, the newspaper sent Ven Marshall to cover the launch and Governor Bill Milliken was scheduled to drive the 1st car off the Final Line while being filmed. The Final Line Foreman, rightfully so, made sure the car (a Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue "Champagne Edition") would start before the filming begun. I was standing at the side of the line and Milliken was in the Driver's seat. Filming started, the line advanced, Milliken was smiling.....and the car wouldn't start. As the line advanced the car past me, Milliken said (out the side of his mouth) Oh, ain't this a B!tch". Seems the ballast resistor failed. That episode ran on national syndicated TV for 3 days. I won't even mention the "Lean-Burn" system. Then Iacocca took over, which leads to a few other stories (he hated that car and killed it after 3 years).

RE: 76 dodge brougham front suspension

A hint: Make sure you have a couple spare starter resistors. They go bad fairly frequently. Symptoms: Engine ran well before shutting down but, although it cranks well, won't start subsequently. It's, in all liklihood, the resistor (the approx. 3" X 1" white porcelain unit mounted on the firewall, generally has 2 leads). They're relatively cheap but have stranded more motorists than anything else on Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth cars & trucks.

As is Phoenix Cruiser. We're on our 3rd. Their after-sale, after warranty period support is outstanding.

RE: Back Up Cameras

Go to eBay and find item # 300657147646. If I needed just a monitor, for $42.00, I'd try it.

Thanks folks. I got it back. IE9 hid the toolbar but it can be permanently added by hitting Alt and V.

Where's the IE toolbar ???

I upgraded(?) to IE9 and lost the IE toolbar on this W7 machine. Any ideas how to get it back?

RE: FCC PROPOSES NATIONAL WIFI SYSTEM, GOOGLE, MS FOR IT?

My thoughts: If the government does anything with this it'll be for their benefit.....not ours. Think how much simpler things will be for them to monitor everything from a single source. You're not paranoid if they're really out to get you.
