How many starter and house batteries are there
in a diesel motor home? For xample, a 95 Beaver
and or a 98 Holiday Rambler.

Thanks in advance.

Varies considerably.

Variables for chassis battery(ies):
Engine size and therefore starting amp requirement.
Size of batteries-- 8D's are common and a LOT bigger (size and capacity) than a couple of smaller 12 VDC batteries.

Variables for house battry(ies):
Inverter or no inverter.
If inverter w/wo compressor-driven refrigerator.
Size of batteries-- range from pairs of 6 VDC golf cart batteries to pairs of 8D's.

My Foretravel came w/ 1 8D engine battery & 2 8D house batteries.

I found that the house battery area {2 8D's} would exactly accommodate 6 golf cart
batteries with a net gain of 260 AH for the house. The 2 8D's were 400AH rated (200AH ea) & the 6 golf cart batteries are 660AH.

The price difference between the two setups was less than $30.00! Of course cabling for the golf cart setup is additional.

I retained the single 8D engine (chassis) battery.
