I'm a smoker and campfires bother me.......I enjoy being around one but can't stand when the smoke follows me and it always does

As to when will 'they' start banning outdoors.........So. CA has for several years. Can't smoke in public, on a public beach or on a public street. Dana Point, Laguna Beach etc.

The problem with separating CG's into smoking/non-smoking sections......unless the CG is rather large with lots of sites, loops etc. it would be difficult to do. Sorta like the smoking/non-smoking section of an airplane or restaurants ....back in the day. Some body is going to be next to the other section due to lack of adequate space. Plus the wind/breeze carries 'smells' a long way.

OK now.......everybody take a big breathe (cough), go outside and enjoy some camping with the campfires, generators, the large group, kids playing, dogs barking, teenagers cruising, golf carts wheezing by and the cigar/cigarette smokers.
And if you see me out there.......stop by. I'll offer you a drink and try to stay downwind when I have a smoke.

Couldn't agree any more...

Traveled many a mile and have never come across a non-smoking area of campground sites. Buildings, yes.

IMO I would just request another site in the campground or if none available, move on down the road. Cigar smoke is offensive to me, so I know I would either move or travel on. I would not let it ruin my trip. The "smoker" has his rights, too, whether we like it or not. I would assume campfires are also a problem for your health condition and I would think most campers like one going.

Ditto, whats the smoker going to do? Move, it's not a non-smoking CG so non smokers have to take a chance.

People with "conditions" have been "conditioned" to believe the "Playing Field" must be lowered for them to the point where no risk to themselves is tolerated or accepted and if that means bending the rest of the "non-conditioned" population to their will, well by all means--life has to be, must be, "fair"!
Pretty soon we will be leveling that old playing field to the point we'll all be in a hole so deep none of us can crawl out of. Wonder why people are "so angry" these days?

DO N DAT
I never heard of a non smoking CG also. never ran into one yet.

Your only option is to ask and move to a new site. Which is one is available I am sure they would let you have immediately.

Or chat with the cigar smoking offender and ask if they could smoke elsewhere. Which will probably start a war

Or maybe get that box fan and use it like someone else said? try to direct most of that smoke in another direction. But I don't think the cigar smoke would be much worse than a fire or grill or something like that coming your way. It should mostly dissipate before it gets to you full strength. It must be mostly the smell that is triggering your reaction??

that is about your only options. I have had things that were unpleasant on my site from a neighbor but you either suck it up or address it. What else can one do?

agreed
If this keeps up we will soon be living in a grey world. Everything neutral, no color, no ups or downs all on a boring level playing field.
Everything dumbed down to the lowest common denominator.

I'm not a smoker but you're kidding right!

I certainly hope he's not.

We have non-smoking motels, non-smoking areas in casinos, etc. Why not in a campground?

If you haven't done so, read up on the effects of second-hand smoke.

Everybody has a right to 'peaceful existence' and staying at a campground should be no exception.
