Watch out for the Okanagan Valley in August -- we were there one year when the cherries were ripe -- phenomenally delicious -- unlike anything you will ever get in the market -- but just don't eat too many in any one day.
Don't ask me how I know this.

Try to get hold of a copy of "Camping British Columbia" by Jayne Seagrave (ISBN978-1-894974-60-8).
This is an excellent guide to over 150 national park and provincial campgrounds in BC, I am sure you will find it really useful if you are making your first visit.
four days isnt much because bc is so vast. but if you make it far enough, i would reccomend either barkerville for a step back in time to the goldrush or wells gray prov park for a step out into the wild. natures beauty at its best. either way, welcome and enjoy the beautiful.

We spent 10 days on Vancouver Island a couple of years ago and really loved it. Stayed at Nanaimo, Campbell River and Port Hardy. Quatse River Campground at Port Hardy is awesome as were the fresh Dungeness crabs we ate. Can't wait to make that trip again.
