We have a 2011 Coleman fifth wheel and after turning on the electrical hot water switch, it seems to take a very long time to heat the water, and then the water is only hot for a few seconds when it is turned on.

- Make sure that your outside shower is turned off..not just on the wand, but the actual hot/cold knobs are off.
- check your water heater by-pass valves.

Is this a new event? Or is the first time you have used it since it was winterized?
Currently, I'm leaning toward the by-pass valve, but more information would be helpful.

You have bypass valves to bypass your hot water heater. Be sure they are turned for water to go through your water heater. They may be 3 valves to position. Turn the one on water lines to be in line with the pipe. Turn the one between the two at right angle to the pipe. I hope I got that right. Tom

This is the second year using this RV and just use the hot water when we are at a campground. We think it worked ok last year, but can't remember for sure. There is no outdoor shower on this model

My husband says that water comes out of the relief valve, and we do get some hot water in the taps but just lasts maybe 30 seconds

Should there be a thermostate somewhere, as we can't find one

There is no thermostat. If your only getting hot water for 30 seconds then it has to be a winterizing valve in the wrong position.

It may just be me but we have seen more of these threads this year than in recent memory. Everyday we are seeing issues with hot water and it seems strange. I wish I had an answer for you but I don't other than the by-pass valves being turned the wrong way.
