Well it finally happened... I actually saw a Class C dump its tanks without a sewer hose!
We had just finished and DH pulled away and was washing his hands in the rest room. (for the germaphobes - he used hand sanitizer before he went into the rest room) A Class C pulls up and the wife jumps out and directs her hubby back towards the dump station. I was confused as to why he needed to wiggle in so close. Extremely short stinky slinky?? Nope. Just pulled the valve and let it rip.
It looked kinda greenish. I am still trying to convince myself that it was only grey water. But still... Before I read this forum I had never even THOUGHT that some people did this.
Separate rant - about pets. The people three sites away let their elderly dog roam loose. Only about 3 lbs, but it curled up on my doormat. I nearly broke its' back hopping down the steps at 7am. OMG.
Can you imagine starting your day THAT WAY?
Other than these 2 little issues our 10 day TN trip was great. Great Smoky Mountain NP is my new fav place!

I sure hope that was only grey water! I have seen some NASTY things happen at the sani station, we should start a thread about all our "crazy" experiences at the sani station. I am sure it would get some laughs out of everyone!

I'm not sqeamish, but after reading about people using the fresh water spigot to rinse their sewer hose in a FHU site I now carry a small spray bottle with bleach.
I truly almost felt moved to yell a sarcastic comment to those idiots. And it would have contained an F-bomb. I was just disgusted with their behavior.

I attach my 'green' hose to the fresh water spigot to flush my tanks and rinse out my sewer hose in a FHU site... What other water source is there to use?
It's a 25' garden hose, so I really don't see the issue? It's not like I shove the end in the thing and let it siphon back at any time..

Mitch -
I meant the people that actually DO shove the stinky slinky over the fresh water spigot and not use a garden hose for rinsing.
I recently saw THAT as well. 15 years of camping and I have never seen as many morons as seem to be out this year.

OH..... Well, yes, that would not be good! I misunderstood and didn't think that someone could/would actually do that! I guess I've been lucky in not having to witness that.. Sorry for jumping to the wrong conclusion..

I read that nasty story about the fresh water spigot here a few months ago. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it could happen. Then lo and behold I saw it. I nearly passed out.
So I now spray it down with a bleach solution. I admit it makes me feel overly cautious and I try and make sure no one is watching. I don't want to be that "Hazmat" type in the park that can't enjoy the out of doors and nature. But I don't want someone else's bugs breeding in my fresh water tank either!
