The 2902, pushed completely forward in a long bed: the black water valve can only be pulled out an inch before the handle hits the truck wall (the inside where the tailgate would be). It works, but would it clog with a load of TP hitting the slide valve?
Most of your issues are and easy fixes.
The black water discharge is a bigger problem. Your solids and paper will more than likely not pass thru properly. In order to get proper discharge, I would think that the valve definitely has to be fully opened, and even at that sometimes there can be issues. That sounds like a very bad factory design flaw.

An inch or two back and it won't be a problem. A two by board between the front of the bed and the camper. But you're right - it should never have been a problem.

Same thing happened on my 1000SLLB ( same floor plan ) and hit the stove knob breaking the knob. The dish was okay but I had to buy a replacement knob. My fault for not pushing the Micro door shut.
I also found that the fridge door needs to have the second "click" to be sure it gets cold. Just shutting the door is not enough.

Thanks Frank - for the tip and well wishes.
We're having fun getting organized, and deciding what we're going to add/change. Everything seems to be going well.
We really liked the 1000 model like yours. It was a tough choice.

Upgrading our shocks and Torq Stableloads did more to stop the bouncing than airbags did. But with those short slab concrete roads in that area of the country, not much can help. I thought the western part of 94 in Minnesota was going to bounce us off the road last summer - even doing only 40.

seraphim,
Look up my mods to see what I did to mine. Some make the unit a little more comfy for me and useful too. They are not expensive and easily done.

Thanks ab257. I'll look into them. It rather felt like we were on a pogo stick.
The list of minor modifications is becoming extensive lol.
A set of steps is one of the first needs. We've been using picnic tables to get in and out. A set of glow steps was included in the purchase, but I haven't a drill along to do the install on the road. Want to design a set that goes down to the side of the unit, rather than straight back, and will double as a rack for the recumbent bikes.

I have not figured out why they are making the 2902 model. When I look at the floor plans and the weights, there is no difference between that and the 1000SLLB model. Maybe someone knows why they are doing that. It is like the old days when GM made all their cars the same and added chrome to mark them up.

For one thing, there's a big difference in tank capacities (fresh, gray, and black). If I ever bought a Palomino, it would have to be the 2902 just for that reason alone.
