Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.

Unless the monitor on mine dictates to change sooner, I change the fuel filter every other oil change or now since the truck is retired to occasional use...once annually.

The DIC on my '11 ticks to "zero" a lot slower than my '06 did. The follow the DIC or 2 year rule seems to have become the norm.

I change my every 10,000 miles. I can't imagine waiting for two years. Filters aren't that expensive.

I'm with ya on that one. On my '07 I change every other oil change which matches pretty much with the DIC. Every 2 yrs seems alittle long, but maybe those new fancy trucks can hack it!

When I had my 2001 Dmax the recommended interval was every 15K.
A friend of mine had a 2003 Dmax. He wasn't real big on maintainence.
At about 55K his truck started surging really bad and wouldn't go ove 40 MPH. He took it to the dealer, who changed out his factory original fuel filter, and admonihed him about changing it more often.
So those filters have alays had the ability to much longer than the recommended interval, but there was just no way to tell just how long a individual filter may last.
With todays computers and sensors, the truck now "knows"
It appears that my 2011 Dmax will have me changing at about 40K!
Of course, I will hit the 2 year limit at about 25K, so it will be changed then.
Changing more often than needed is just throwing money away for NO benefit. It is popular thaough, so if it makes one feel good then perhaps it's worth spend the money on a filter instead of something else like more beer.

It's right there in the 2011-12 GM manual. When the DIC says to change it OR 2 years. Whichever comes first.
I do believe that since GM designed, built and warrantys my truck, that they have the proper info.
Or you can go with a bunch of internet experts....many of which are basing their OPINIONS on their own truck....which is NOT a 2011-12 model....
