RE: ERA towing a Smart Fortwo FYI

The Smart ForTwo has synergy in being matching Mercedes Benz with the Sprinter and being proportionally small with a B. BTW, it can be towed four down.

RE: Ipad won't work on CG wifi

I wish I was still there to try some of the recommendations, but at home now. As info, I noticed that the wifi antenna was two sites over (about 75 ft. max) so I'm guessing that was close enough. The ipad did not give any indication of even sensing the signal (you know, the little antenna designation that pulses), but my Iphone did see the signal, but as far as I could tell, I was accessing the "net" via 3G rather than over the wifi. Guess I need to get a little more "edjumacated" before I can ask intelligent enough questions to solve this problem. Anyway, glad to hear that at least some others have had this same problem and thanks for the comments.
What I read is you are looking at the menu bar for the wifi detection signal to come up. It works that way on a Mac but not an iPad. If your iPad has never been on that network before, you have to go into the Settings app and first make sure you have wifi turned on to detect a signal. Then you have to select the network you want to connect to. You might be surprised in a campground how many private ones might be set up by other RVers. Click on the one you want. Some might be password protected even if free and you may have to get that password from the office. Often they are not password protected but you might have to wait for a user agreement to come up and click on an agree button. I camped in three Louisiana State Parks this spring and got on with my iPad. One did disable video which severely limited use, IMO, but not all did. I was still able to connect.

RE: 2012 Roadtrek SS Battery Separator Making clicking noise

We were just discussing battery separators in another forum but not this subject. On my former Pleasure-way and my Great West Van I had and have a mechanical battery disconnect. I believe the Roadtrek uses a solenoid relay so you can conveniently shut off the battery with an accessible toggle switch. So I would imagine what you are hearing might be the solenoid. If you are talking about the auxiliary battery as I assume that indeed is a camper problem and not Mercedes Benz. If it is clicking like that is the 12V battery power also going on and off or have you checked that?

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Also replaced a tail lamp. That turned out to be rather easy to do as the instructions are right in the Mercedes Benz manual. What they don't tell you is what kind of screwdriver to use which I happened to have stored in the back door. It was not Phillips or Robertson. I forget the name but it is star shaped.
I have a hunch you mean Torx.
Cheers.
Correcto mundo! I just had a brain fart and didn't want to take the time to look it up as I was typing. It was there in the back door storage and I couldn't remember why (it was for the license plate) but having tools in both basement and garage and often going into a panic trying to gather the right tools that gets me cussing under my breath it was a pleasant surprise to find it right there at hand. It was all I needed except for the bulb which required a trip to the auto store.

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

I re-sealed my bathroom skylight with 100% silicone sealant. The original sealant showed wear and cracking and there was a small leak. I only did a temporary fix as I didn't disassemble and remove all the old sealant. I may redo it later.

RE: Moving digital images

Probably the easiest way is to move all your photos to a computer, edit there, and then move back to your iPads via Dropbox, email or iCloud (AirDrop in the future?). We have 2 iPhones, 2 iPads and MacBook Pro laptop when we travel. We rarely use our iPads to take photos but do use our iPhones extensively.
There is a way to move photos from iPhones to an iPad via Apple's $29 30-pin Camera Connection kit via plugging in with the iPhone's USB cord or SD cards from other cameras. If you have the new connector iPads then you also need the adapter. I don't see where Apple has a new adapter camera connection kit.
Camera Connection Kit
Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter if you need it
We are moving away from physically transferring between iPhones and iPads to simply using Photostream on iCloud. Take a photo on your iPhone and it automatically transfers to the iPad and computer whenever you have them connected to wifi (not cellular). The trick is all the devices have to be on the same iCloud account. That's not practical for us since an iCloud account also syncs calendars, email, contacts, notes, etc. It is fine for me managing my own photos but not my wife's.
I put all the photos from all the devices onto my MacBook Pro directly into iPhoto via Photostream from my iPhone or Camera Connection Kit from my wife's iPhone or Camera Connection Kit for our other digital cameras. There I can edit and organize and create slideshows amongst other things.
Photostream via iCloud is cool. It streams everything to my computer into iPhoto and keeps the last 1,000 photos active and viewable on all my devices including Apple TV on my 47" TV at home.
Of course there are other ways. You can send all your photos from all devices to one account online such as Photobucket, Flickr, etc., organize, and create slideshows there as well.

RE: Eleventh Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B11)

630 MB? Possible, but you have to know what you are doing at both ends. For instance, Gmail has a 25 MB limit if attaching from your computer. Your service provider might have a say as to what you can do as well. Sometimes burning a DVD and snail mailing might be a better solution. That 2.5 MB group picture I tried to send failed under three different wifi connections until I got home and used my own service.
I went checking past rallies and realized that my photos from B5 and B6 are history online as a link. They were on MobileMe, a service Apple ended last year. Links are not all that reliable. I've lost several over the years (AOL, .mac, iWeb, Photoshop, MobileMe, etc.) just because of business model changes by companies. I haven't even checked yet what Adobe's changes have affected in my online libraries. I'm paying for some photo services right now but there is no guarantee photo libraries would last if I quit paying. I also know that once you establish a link, as Asheguy mentioned, that if you mess with it by editing, subtracting, adding or moving files around you stand a chance of breaking the link.

Most magazines are on the internet with print replica reproductions and can be subscribed to.

I use my iPad and the Zite app with RV, RVBusiness.com and Camping as favorite categories. That pretty much covers everything. Zite is a news aggregater.

RE: transfer pictures from cell phone to laptop

Since the OP didn't say what laptop I guess it is fair to chime in with iPhone on iCloud automatically loads photos into iPhoto on my MacBook Pro laptop and on my iPad at the same time. Doesn't Samsung have a no-brainer solution like that?

RE: AGM batteries, overcharging on long drives

The two Bs I've owned (P-W and Great West) had battery disconnect switches but I have rarely turned them off. My current B gives a voltage number read out and I don't recall it ever over 14 when sometimes checking while driving.
I don't know what my chassis battery is as it is buried under the driver floor and I have never checked it. I've been trusting the periodic service to deal with it if needed and so far so good. I believe Mercedes Benz is putting in an AGM battery now. Not sure about 2010. My auxiliary batteries are lead-acid.

RE: Eleventh Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B11)

Paul and I are looking at B-11 sites in central Indiana. We are VERY busy this time of year, so we are spending limited time searching for suitable sites. Hope to have something to nominate by the end of July! Is anyone else looking????
Paul and Sherry,
You initially mentioned Elkhart which is northern Indiana at the B10 Rally. Do you now have something different in mind for central Indiana? One thing about central Indiana and I suspect anything between Chicago and Indianapolis is the weekend before Memorial Day's Indy 500 Race would be difficult. Campgrounds fill up for that qualifying weekend. I parked next to a guy race day from Chicago and he said the closest campground he could find was near Lafayette. He left the 5th Wheeler there and drove down in the pickup and was admiring my B. :)

RE: Has anyone installed Timbren on a Sprinter?

The new Sprinter has several suspension package options. I'm not sure what they had a decade ago, but that could make a difference. Converters may have ordered the different packages making one converter's Sprinter handle differently than another.

RE: Tenth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B10)

Bob and Shaaron also spent a lot of their own money traveling up to Kincheloe more than once to set this event up. They asked nothing for it. It is not like this place was next door to them. They worked on it for nearly a year all on their own time and expense.
If we nit pick the organizers of these events over details that can wait and fail to recognize the tremendous effort and personal expense involved soon no one will be willing to host these events. I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank Davyyd for kicking me out of his Facebook B Social Group.
Hope y'all enjoyed the rally!
- LJZ
Lynn,
For the record, it is not my group. I just happened to be the only one at the time that realized creating Facebook groups is easy as pie. I was the one who approved you. I did not kick you out of the group. I'm a more the merrier kind of guy in attitude. There are several administrators. In fact anyone that took on organizing a social was made an administrator and left that way so I would not have to be the "owner" of the group.
But since you chose to publicly point out something that has nothing to do with this thread and the RV.net B rallies, I might guess why someone may have kicked you out.

RE: Fridge usage in class B

Hello everyone
Just a quick question: can you use the fridge on propane while driving.
Thanks
Yes. There is no problem doing so other than it is recommended you not do it while fueling and there may be some ferries, tunnels and bridges that will require you to shut off your propane. The manufacturers, both the converters and Dometic, would prefer you not to do so.

You know the answer already. I'd say if you are concerned then don't buy a Sprinter.

Maybe you need to qualify your comments to the B you are talking about. If you have the right kind of B it is not an issue.

RE: Trade my old Sprinter for a new one?

Whether you trade in and get new also depends on whether, from experience, you want to improve your design and layout in ways you couldn't with your current Sprinter. That was our case.

RE: Advanced Rv

The side screen door makes all the difference in a Sprinter in how you use it and enjoy it, IMO. It brings outdoors in even more so than the abundant windows. Also, the back screen will probably reduce your air-conditioning use dramatically. We only used our air-conditioning so far because of excess humidity rather than heat in South Padre Island, TX. A few times in the dry Southwest with temps over 90F we got by without air-conditioning.
