RE: Fixing water damage on the old Dodge (pics)

What's your plan to stabilize the posts, so that you can actually use the shed? Are you going to build walls? If so, will you get started on the Dodge before 2012? ;)

RE: Water Heater Won't Ignite

Do you have air in your LP lines? Light all of your stove burners and your oven to help clear any air out of the lines.

RE: I want to learn how to work on air conditioners.

If your mechanic is charging you $800 for a recharge, you need a new mechanic.
Compressors are expensive. I would guess that at least 75% of that $800 is simply buying a compressor.
Find a good independent mechanic and avoid getting ripped off by a dealer. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but car/rv dealers are some of the slimiest people on this planet.

RE: Does the onboard generator

No I am not yanking anyones chain. My question is legit and here is why.
I tried to start my generator the other day (while hooked up to shore power) and it cranked like it had a dead battery. Then I went out and charged up one of the 6v batteries and it cranked right up (again hooked up to shore power). Ok so my batteries are the problem. No so fast..I went out and turned off ( using the disconnect switch on my batteries) and guess what - it still started.
That is why I ask the question. Something is not correct and I am trying to troubleshoot the problem.
Gee people I guess I should be surprised so many responded with no help at all. Why waste your time typing a smart ass response. I have issues I am trying to address.
I know the correct way it is supposed to work, IT IS NOT WORKING THAT WAY IN MY CASE.
JIMBO
Why didn't you post this from the start? Your original post was worthless.
------------------------------------
So, basically you had a dead battery. Your converter was pumping out around 13.5V, trying to charge the batteries. Depending on the wiring and proximity of the convert/batteries/generator, not enough current was getting from your converter to your generator.
The basic issue here, is that your generator uses 12V DC to start. Where it comes from is where your problem lies.
With your batteries disconnected, your converter provided the 12V power to your generator to start up. Because the converter was not also trying to charge dead batteries, there was no drop in voltage at the generator, causing it to crank like the battery was dead.
---------------------------------------
If you just ask a question that gets to the root of the problem, without assuming way too much about it, you can get a better response.
-----------------------------------------
So, no, your question was NOT legit, because neither one is the right answer. The generator starts with 12V power. This 12V power could come from your coach batteries, your house batteries or your converter.

RE: Does the onboard generator

gets it start from the batteries or from shorepower?
Jimbo
Please tell us that you were simply bored and looking to have a little fun.Yea, he is yanking our chain.
Sometimes, it's hard to tell. This guy was serious:

RE: Suddenly, no hot water...

Ok, thanks Vic.... I just did that and it fired up on propane. I did not let it heat up fully, but just let it run for a minute or so and it seems to burn ok...
But, were you able to get hot water from a faucet?
Do you have water heater bypass valves, primarily for winterizing?
Someone mentioned 'bumping a valve', this is probably what they were referring to.

Winegard RM-DM46 w/ Two tuners (DirecTV)

Can I hook a second tuner to my roof-mounted RM-DM46 satellite dish?
Can I install some kind of a diplexer to 'split' the signal to two tuners?
I sent an email to Winegard asking this question, but thought that I'd check with the experts here, also.
Thanks.

RE: wiring diagram for 3 12 volt batteries

8000W? That's 66 amps. Are you saying that a 30A outlet can surge to 8000W?
I can run my A/C and AC water heater at the same time on a 30A circuit.
If I use the microwave and plug in the deep fryer, though, I trip the circuit.

Configuration 8 in Hurricaners diagram.
This isn't really debatable. That's just the way that you do it.

RE: Honda 1000 and A/C?

Even the 2000 is marginal for that A/C. It can run it, but will have trouble starting the A/C.
The 2000 will start it just fine, as long as you're not using the microwave.
The 2000 surges to 16.6A and runs steady at 13.3A. That's a 77%/41% cushion, respectively, over the 9.4A that somebody else said was needed.
Take the generator out of ECO mode, so that it doesn't overload before it has a chance to ramp up.

RE: Minimum or maximum tire inflation?

I don't know what 'tech savvy' is, but I'm guessing that it was answering a reader's question.
What you have presented is worthy of a feature article, way too much information for a Q&A section.

RE: E and F Disk Problem

Are E and F partitions, or physical hard drives? Sorry, but if you can't answer that, you'll need to have a computer-savvy friend take a look. We could spend weeks trying to troubleshoot this on a forum.
How do you 'send pictures' to E? Are you 'copying' or 'moving' in Windows Explorer? Are you using a photo management program?
What do/did you have on E and F? Were these your only copy of these files?
You should try to run a CHKDSK on E and F. Make sure that you run it with the /F flag, to fix errors. Also use the /X flag, to force the volume to dismount if necessary.

Why in the world would you want to watch TV on a computer screen? They make Televisions just for that purpose.
Why on earth would you want to sleep in a trailer? They make hotels just for that purpose... :W

RE: Hook satellite to computer

Something like this should work. If your DISH receiver has a coax output, you can plug that into this, tune your laptop to channel 3, using the included software, and you should be good to go:

RE: Wheel Chock Idea?

Maybe it's the picture angle but there sure does not look like there is much space between the tires. Are you sure there is not something wrong with the suspension?
Some trailers are like that. If you look at the 'fender', you will see that the tires line up with the shape of the fender.

RE: B+ motorhomes

The occasional off-topic 3-4 posts is not the issue. However, when Artum Snowbird posted "It would be an interesting poll. Are your pets and their cages secured in case of an impact?" (sorry, I didn't mean to pick on you), it seemed that this thread might head way off topic.
Also, these forums are A LOT easier to read if you go into your preferences and increase the number of posts per page to 20; I only show 112 pages to this thread. (I noticed that someone indicated that the thread was 223 pages)
