Thank you all, any other solutions? It looks like memory foam is winning so far.

RE: Help with mattress replacement

I just replaced mine with a regular home type pillow top mattress. Got it on sale and it was less than 300. Then put a 2 inch topper on top of it. NICE. is yours a special size?

Thanks, standard queen sized bunk-ends. 60" x 80"

Help with mattress replacement

Hi Everyone,
Our HTT has the worst mattress I think we have ever had in an RV and we are looking to replace it with a comfortable solution that is reasonably priced, easy to store since we will likely lose the factory mattress all together... did I mention it is really the worst we've had?
Please offer suggestions for comfort, storage, price etc... I have looked at a 3" memory foam at Costco however it is a little weighty and I have also looked at an air mattress at Sam's Club. Pros/Cons???
Thanks

RE: Awning Mat

We often camp in areas that have shade, so little grass. We always use a mat and wouldn't be without it. We tried the carpet thing for a season or two and often ended up leaving it behind after a few uses, if it rained it definitely went to the trash. I invested in a custom RV mat a few years ago and it can be swept, drains water and has lasted years so far with many years to come. A good mat is worth the investment.
Have fun

RE: Whats the difference between the Hunter 42999 and the 42999B

In London you will have a Princess Auto nearby, I picked up a Honeywell from Princess Auto for $14.99. Works like a charm.

RE: A question for our friends north of the border

I can't say specifically for NS as I am in Ontario, however I'm guessing that the rules are similar.
I recently purchased a new trailer and I could not apply for a temporary permit on a trailer to get from point "A" to point "B" I needed to have plates.
I needed a bill of sale as well as a signed over ownership and proof of insurance in order to get plates.
Canada customs will require the payment of GST and PST as well as a transfer fee, last year this fee was $206 CDN.
If the trailer does not have Canadian certification, the purchaser will need to bring it to a dealer for certification... usually Canadian Tire can do this.
The link below will bring you to the Government of Canada website that will give many of the requirements. There is a phone number there and it is usually easier to call them. It is not as hard as it may sound. A quick phone call will tell you if the certificate will be acceptable.

RE: It's official...well almost

Congrats! You will love it. We've raised three kids in campgrounds through the summer months from the time they were born. It gives us great pleasure when our son... now 16, the oldest, still wants to come. Now... I'm guessing he'll ask to bring his girlfriend. LOL

RE: Crossing Border???

When we travel in the US, bringing meat in can be an issue, so we just do our shopping once we are across. Prices are usually better, beer is definitely cheaper and you will be hauling less of load. Make sure you have your dogs rabies shots up to date and you bring the vaccine certificate with you in case they ask to see it. They have asked us for this once.

RE: favorite ontario campgrounds

Summerhouse Park, http://www.summerhousepark.ca
Bruce Peninsula just South of Tobermory. Sites A6 and A7 are together right on the lake, they are dry camp sites. Go with someone that will take the other site or take them both. The two sites are together and very private unless a stranger takes the other site. Wind can come off the lake, so have a tarp that can operate as a wind break if need-be.
The park is a great place for kids. Small inland lake that gets warm early in the season and you will thoroughly enjoy the area. If you can't get those sites, the park is still great and there are other good site also.

RE: 1999 fleetwood hybrid roof supports

If you're uncomfortable, call over to your local dealer and ask a simple question to the service department. "Is there anything that will stop me from installing an A/C on the roof of my 1999 Fleetwood?"

Very Nice! I do like the extra storage with no oven... we've never used ours and the storage would be a great bonus.

RE: Yet another leveling question

Some effort in construction pays off in convenient to-the-millimeter leveling. Just pull onto them and inflate to suit. The chocks are Roto Chocks.

RE: Our new 2010 Roo 21SS is Home ***update***

Congrats on the new HTT, you'll love it!
Necessity is the mother of invention.
That being said, RV manufacturers started to provide slide locks because of problems and warranty claims that arose when the slide locks were not there. You have a screw jack holding the lower section of the slide in place, there is no such animal on the top of the slide, over time, if not using a slide lock you will notice the top of the slide will start to lean out very slightly, this can cause a breach in the seal and can worsen over time.
The lock is supplied for a reason and is worth using. Simply ensure you remove them before pushing your slide out button.

RE: Selling a Hybrid in Central Fl.

kijiji.com is another option, similar to craigslist and I had better results with it when I sold my trailer earlier this year. The trick to remember with craigslist and kijiji, don't post and leave it alone. As more people post items for sale, your posting moves lower and lower on the list, it gets harder for someone to find. Maintain your listing every day or two and keep it on the first page, you'll sell it in no time.
Good luck
