With my trailer setting level in the driveway, the dump valve is barely 5-6 inches off the ground. Since this is my first "trailer", I'm not sure how much that clearance will vary as I tow and back into campsites. It just looks like it is an accident waiting to happen.
I've contacted Dexter and they do not have a lift kit for the axle that is on my unit. I am concerned that a small ditch or even a good sized speed bump will cause me to drag the PVC dump valve and drain pipe. I've looked under the trailer and the frame prevents me from raising the drain system any.
Anyone else have this issue? Anyone have an idea on how to resolve?

Bad design and, Yes, you will knock it off sooner or later. I had such an arrangement on a previous motorhome; dumped a tank-full of #### down the driveway once and another time on I-5 on a hot summer day. The latter was just a stream which distributed the contents for several miles, both on the road way and on following traffic. The fix -- I could never find one. Sorry

We have a Jayco with a drain that is pretty low too. We have a long driveway (live in the woods). It is very uneven (grass in the middle still), and we have a good sized "ditch" at one point that allows water to cross when it rains heavily. We thought for sure it would drag. It didn't, and I think it is because it is near the tires.
Are you sure there aren't some "V" shaped drag bars on the back of your trailer? Usually when there is low ground clearance these are pretty standard on most brands. They are designed to drag the ground in circumstances where the plumbing may be damaged. They don't offer complete protection but they do work pretty good when folks don't try to "improve" them with wheels. If you find you have them, run a string from the bottom of the rear tire to the bottom of the drag bar. Your plumbing SHOULD be higher than this string, indicating you will benefit from their protection.

Can you add some of those anti-scrape triangle things to the rear frame? My 23ss has one on the I beams on each side about 2 ft in from the back of the trailer. I was going to get some of those metal wheel thingies to put on them so they rolled instead of scraped.

I noticed my JayFeather 23B has some low plumbing too, but they all do except riser equipped HTT's. It seems the plumbing is purposely located near the tires. After going to a campbround last weekend that SHOULD have rubbed the plumbing right off the trailer, I am happy to report no damage!! The pipes never got closer than 3-4" from rubbing, even backing up a grade to park the camper.

We also own a Jayco with low clearance. We have towed and camped over all types of terrain this camping season, and we have never scraped or dragged a single time.
