I just got a 1966 Winnebago from a customer for doing about $400 worth of work around her house. Her father was the original owner and she has had it in her family till now.

I live in Las Vegas but have some property about 2 hours away in a town of about 65 people called Rachel NV (town famous for being closest to Area 51). I wanted a little trailer to sleep in while I'm there working getting ready for the Park Model Home I'll be putting up there soon as a get-a-way from Vegas on the weekends.

Here is my question, I have this trailer up there now and it is tight for 3 of us to sleep in and walk around in when we are all inside. I had thoughts of taking the "bathroom/shower" room out as well as the kitchen. The fridge is in perfect shape as well as the stove. I was thinking of making it one big room where we could put a couch and dresser in if I gutted the kitchen and bathroom.

Now would that be like me taking a 1964 GTO that is in original condition and ruining it with a flame paintjob and replacing the original engine with a 6 cyl?

I'll never use the stove, oven, fridge or bathroom as it is going to be basically guest (kids) housing while we are up there.

Tell me what you think, I just took these pics as I was standing on top of my shipping container, I didn't remember to take any of the inside. It is in really great shape for being a 1966.

you might be surprised if you list it for sale with pics, someone might jump up and take it off your hands.

it would be a shame to take something in good shape and gut it for a kids room.

I agree and you could use the cash to do some better space addition maybe.

I would think hard about that. If it is going to be a "guest" house, it might work out very well to keep the kitchen and bathroom in it. If you are planning on setting it at a semi-permanent site, what about a big tent / screen room added onto it that could act as overflow sleeping area?

I would put a ad in the paper or on Craigs List and sell it

The weather must be real dry where it has lived since 1966, because here in New England a 1966 would have typically rotted away by now.

I agree, or I would just keep it the way it is.

Normally I would not have a problem with changing the inside of a unit. But that one looks to be in very fine shape. Also, I've not run arcoss a Winne trailer in these parts yet. So I'd have to really think about that one.

If you try to sell, I think you would not have trouble doing so.
But, if you did decide to keep it, do with it what you want. Heck, I've got a mild custom Chevy Belair. So changing up something comes easy for me.

Cool trailer. Mich60

I haven't seen a Winne travel trailer in probably 20 years! It looks like it's in fine shape too! I would bet some of the vintagers would love to take that off your hands for a fair price...
