Well, I shoulda asked a little more about the roof, but I looked today. The previous owner had Kool Sealed it. She made a big deal about doing that, but I should have asked about the condition of said roof before she did it. I looked today & noticed there was a bunch of bubbles. I stupidly poked one of the bubbles. There was black goop & what looked like some kind of woven fiber. Could the old guy who lived in this trailer, have actually tarred the roof? What the heck is it and how can I fix it? Please check out my pics and gimme your best guess.

Here's a pic for you Wendy. A panel removed.

Here's the pic of my entrance where the soft spot was half-arse fixed by previous owners husband. Regular wood and interior screws?!

A form of Tarpaper??

I have never seen anything like that on an RV roof, but looks similar to the roofing material on my patio..It was laid down and heat sealed.

That's not fibered roofing sealer. Someone at one point or another used an old roofer's trick. They laid down a sheet of burlap and coated it with roofing tar.

Now I understand how you will attach the replacement walls! I feel like Homer Simpson when he says DOH!!! But I have to say, I really like that teal/turquoise stripe, even if it's an outside piece. It'd make for some interest on the interior walls if you could replicate it there.

Looks like burlap with a couple of coats of cold seal. Good luck on what looks like a massive project.
