It is a scam. There is no significant double blind evidence in the medical literature that it is effective. There are several devices made by various manufacturers such as Vax-D, Accu-Spina, DRS, and DRX-9000 used by these practicioners to empty your wallet. Medicare will only pay under a traction code which in our area pays $17/ treatment. In 2006, two chiropractors were sentenced to prison for using CPT Code 64722 to improperly collect nearly $2 million from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia. Both were sentenced to serve 34 months in a federal prison. There are multiple chiropractors advertising this modality in our area. Stay clear.

Might I ask which one you got?
Thanks!

I ordered the Health Mark Pro Inversion Chair from www.inversion-table-direct.com, for $238.99 plus shipping of about $20. It's a cheap investment to see if it helps rather than spend 20-30 times that much.
How were you diagnosed and who has recommended spinal decompression?
Have you been to a spine specialist? an orthopedic Dr. ?
I would seek out the best medical advice I could find, including several opinions and them determine the treatment based on thier suggestions...starting with the least invasive treatment based on your condition.
I have had two spinal fusions I would never do spinal decompression therapy unless my orthopedic recommended it after reviewing at least an MRI. I would be very careful as there is the potential of making your situation worse.

I did not say it was recommended. I merely wanted to know if anyone had tried it and what results they might have had.
I do appreciate all the comments, good or bad, as that is what I am interested in hearing.

I have two bulging discs L-4 & L-5. I bought an inversion table several years ago and it has done wonders for my back. I highly recommend trying one, especially if you think surgery is the only option. I paid around $300 for mine and it was money well spent!
