We've had some trouble draining the black tank of our previously owned RV..yesterday after letting it still full of water for about a month, DH drained it again and clumps of soft, calcium stuff came out with the water. We figure that is what has had it clogged up....Am thinking of getting some Lime-Away and putting it in black tank...I've never used this and can look when I get to Wally World later, but thought I'd ask if anyone knows if this is safe for plastic, such as black tanks??? If not, does anyone have any other suggestions. We are going to use the Geo Method, but will have to order the water softner online and have a trip this weekend.
TIA!

If I buy another used RV, I am going to find an All Pro Water Flow service and have them do my tanks. I saw them in Quartzite a few years back. They have nationwide franchises. They have adapted a pressure washer with flexible hoses and special nozzles and a camera and go up through your valves and thoroughly blast your tanks clean including the sensors. About $100 or so if I remember.

If not that then try the third full tank and a few bags of ice trick and drive down some bumpy roads and drain.

You might check WalMart again for the Calgon, I am finding it again there, however it is not by the laundry detergents. At our WM it is in a center isle display before you get to the laundry products. You might check w/an attendant in that department. Might save you from having to order on line and waiting for it to arrive.

To answer your question, Lime-Away will not hurt your black water tank or piping. (If it is calcium deposits from hard water, this should get rid of them.) Good luck!

the best investment is a black tank sprayer that mounts on the wall opposite the drain.

Since Limeaway is sold in a plastic bottle I would not think it could harm a plastic black water tank. A better product at Walmart is LimeOut. It's sold in the plumbing area (hardware area) in Walmart. It contains Urea Hydrochloride something completely different then what you find in Limeaway. It does the job when Limeaway does nothing.

Does the fiver have a washer/dryer? If so, the sludge may be built up powdered laundry soap........
