We decided to buy a TT instead of an RV. Hubby bought a truck with a cab over for his tools. We are relocating to Texas for work around Houston.
30'Travel Trailers have very little inside storage. This will be our home for 8 -12 months.

If you have bunks, you can turn them into storage shelves. Ours has bunks in the back. We do occasionally have the kids (adults) with us, but for the most part, it serves as a great storage area. You can even make permanent cabinets there.

Other ideas:

Make shelves in the cabinets. There's dozens of way to do this.

Make individualized compartments under the kitchen table benches.

Nothing says you can add extra shelf space over the toilet, sink, above the medicine cabinet, or anywhere else you have space on the way.

Velcro is wonderful! Get the stuff with a sticky backs and then you can attach virtually anything to the walls (great for remote controls).

Don't underestimate any extra space in the truck. If you notice my signature, I purchased the truck for a single purpose, to tow the travel trailer. And then I purchased the shell for a specific purpose ... to carry the canoe. And the storage tool boxes on the side hold everything for camping and the canoe. Space in the truck can hold a lot of things.

You may also be able to attach a storage box on the back end of your trailer. You may need to visit a welder to reinforce the bumper and/or frame to support extra weight, but that is an option. And how about those soft car carriers on the top of your truck?

I just noticed, this is your first post! Welcome to the forums! You've come to the right place for answers. You'll get all kinds of information here, so don't be shy!

I've seen another post here that put shelves over their bedroom door and over the windows in the bedroom area, if there is enough space. If the shelf is over the door on the bedroom side, may not be visible from the living area, so won't be too unsightly.

This may sound a little simplistic - but make sure everything has a place. Avoid cramming everything anywhere it will fit. Think about what you need and choose to bring it, rather than just bringing everything you might need. Edit your stuff.

Having said that, I love plastic bins. We use stackable bins as "dressers," a bin for pots and pans, an "outside bin" holding bug spray, lantern, poncho and other outdoor items and even sliding bins for food storage. We bought inexpensive bins from a home improvement store and I think a couple of them came from Walmart.

Congrats on your new trailer. Have fun!

I have the bench seat dinette. I found plastic bins at Walmart that have the drawer that fit in the seat. Now all I have to do is open the dinette door and pull the drawer to get my stuff out. You still have room inside the seat for other things that you don't use as much. I keep my extra paper plates and light stuff in the drawers. I hated have to lift the cushions every time I wanted things from the seats.

We like to read so needed a bookcase to take along, the best place for the bookcase was right next to the door on the bunkroom wall so we have not fastened it in place but lay the empty case on a bunk when we travel. I am afraid that if something has to be moved out the front door there would not be room if the bookcase was fastened there. It would hold all sorts of things besides books.
We have a folding table under the awning with a plastic fitted floor length tablecloth on. Rubbermaid boxes fit under it, unseen.
We have made extra shelves in the linen closet. Much more conveinent.

We use over the door hooks and racks where possible and put drawers in a few of our "closets." The lift-up beds provide a lot of room under them. We just need to figure out how to get by with less stuff.

Also, check all those closed up areas under the refrigerator, stove, seats, etc. Many of them are closed off because of pipes, wires or whatever. Guess the man. doesn't want to get sued if you cut a wire or something! But there are often huge areas that can be used for storage. In our little 25 footer I found four areas that increased our storage area by a fourth. I took out the panels, made doors that matched the decor and they work great.
