I've got a buddy who's a real estate agent here in Bucks County, PA - squatting in homes is a big problem here as well - and the legal steps one has to go to, to actually get these freeloaders out of houses they don't own or pay for, is daunting.

Big national problem, evidently.

Amazing, and all those gov't agencies mentioned in the article don't seem to want to cooperate either.

You'd be suprised at how effective some 3/4 plywood and a screw gun would be at keeping the squatters from return into a residence once they're outside. Just remember to use the security type so you can't just back them out with a phillips.

This is how they keep them from doing it in vacant houses in Kankakee. The windows and doors are boarded over and screws down so that it would take alot of time and effort to break in.

....these are vacant homes, owned by financial institutions. There's no way the Deutsche Bank (or any other financial inst) would board up a half-million dollar home up for sale, in a 'hood like that. It'd look...well, like the house was infected by the plague and quarantined or something

...man, you'all got some weird stuff goin' on down there! King Solomon? Jeez, that's a good one.

I wonder how long I would last in our home (that we own) if we suddenly declared ourselves King and Queen of Whatever and stopped paying taxes? I don't know if they would throw me in jail or a mental hospital first. These people are criminals. They are stealing... obviously not following the tenets of their supposed religion. Scary stuff.

These are not religious people, they are merely crooks, using their made-up 'religion' as the vehicle to justify and perpetuate their own immorality.
