I have a 1999 Keystone Cabana. I got it about two years ago. I think it should easily last another 4-8 years without much needing to be done to it.

If we keep camping the way we are, ours will probably last 25 years. Since 2004, we did about 15 camping trips. Needless to say it still looks new.

I would think if you can find somewhere inside to store it it'd last a good long time, out in the elements, no so. I'm hoping for 10 years, I store it outside...

We had a Starcraft P'up for 17yrs growing up and remember helping my dad put tires on it and hearing him say "i hope this thing doesn't start nickel and dimeing me".
If i can get 17yrs out of my hybrid with just a set of tires I'll be happy.

Proper care is the key to longevity.

Keep it closed up when not in use...what i'm saying is, don't leave it sitting all summer in the driveway with the bunk ends out!

We have a January 2000 Bantam. Still looks good and everything works great. We expect to keep it many more years. Stored outside, but no snow here.

Happy Camping!

What you put into it you will get out of it. I have owned a 30 yr old Pop Up that was in terrible shape, I rebuilt it. I have owned 2 brand new trailers, a Pop Up and now my Travel Trailer. I think with proper maintenance and dealing with issues right away you will easily hit yoyr target as far as longevity goes. The single biggest enemy of any RV is water, if there is a leak deal with it right away. This is especially true of HTT's as they have a higher probability of leaks just due to their design.

With good care and when cleaned and dry before stowing, it should last much longer than 8 years. Our pup was 11 years old and still looked and worked great. It had some rough service as our kids and their friends grew up in it.
"If" you can find a good used one at a fair price go for it, but it seems that many people ask about what you can get a new one for from RVDirect or RVW.
Have you been camping for a while or is this a new venture?? I ask because you say your kids won't want to camp after 16, however that is not true at our house. Kids are now 19,18 and 16 and still love to go. Your needs may change as they get older, and I know lots of folks change their rigs often, we like to keep ours a long time. That may change how you look at things.
