I have my new DTV and mounting bracket ordered and on the way. I have selected the location for the install. I want to install it in the hollow plenum above the fridge. I know I need to install a backer board to support the bracket. I have looked for previous posts that showed that being done (but can't locate it now). Here is the area that I will install.

How do I remove the interior wall board without destroying it?

Also, when I get in there, is there going to be some "obvious" places for me to secure the backer board?

An alternative location (though much less desirable from a viewing standpoint) is the oak board that forms the end of overhead storage cabinet (visible just beyond the antenna crank). That only requires the bracket to be mounted right on it.

Thanks.

I did mine last year. I pulled off the small side board and put a piece of 3/4 inch ply behind the the larger section. Then I covered both pieces with oak plywood and stained to match the camper. I will try to post a pic when I get home.

If your REAL careful and a bit lucky, you can pry it off and use it again... I did this in my bathroom with a large 4'X8' piece of paneling... More than likely it is just stapled to the framing but they use a LOT of staples... If it is glued, it's going to be nearly impossible to get it off without damage but it would be worth a try anyway...

A couple of drywall taping knives and Stanley pry bar will aid the process... Take your time and go slow - it's doable but it takes some finnesse...

You could also put the backer on the outside of the wall, just use a finished approach, faced oak plywood (as mentioned) or solid oak. Find and screw it to the studs, then mount the TV on it...

Ok, here is the pic of what I did. While I had it open I added an outlet so I don't have wires hanging down.

SJR - exact match. Looked at your profile and we have the same trailer.

Really like your work. Sent you a PM asking for bit more info. Would be obliged for a short response.

Thanks.....
