It was announced on the news this morning that batches of N1H1 vaccine have been sent to the provinces and Health Canada is expected to OK the vaccine after testing sometime this week. I am not sure who will have priority in the initial stages, but here in Alberta the regular flu shot program will be suspended and H1N1 will be available. I suggest that any snowbirds heading out by the end of the month contact their local health office to see if they can jump the line if they want the shots. We are not leaving until Jan. but we will be getting the shots, ASAP.

The H1N1 flu vaccine has been approved by Health Canada, and here in Alberta they will start dispensing on Monday the 26th of October. There are enough fear mongers out there telling people not to get the shots, so anyone wanting them should have no problem getting the shot regardless of age.

Do not bet your health and safety on your age. I was born in 43 and I am still trying to get over the swine flu. I was sick for 10 days. Two IV's blood pressure down to 50. Don't ask the stupid question " are you sure you had the swine flu" I have had the flu before. The flu season hasn't even started here. This SOB knocked me on my butt. My doctor had it 10 days before me. My wife had it before me and here symptoms were more mild than the seasonal flu. I got it all. fever, weakness, no thirst or appetite body pain and lots of it. I still do not drink soda ( pop to the Canadians) or milk or eat anything dairy.

Good luck getting it in the states. I saw a news story showing a clinic in Boston giving out 300 doses to the first people in line that wanted something for free and must have had the day off from work. Got to love that proirity list. Lets see......seniors, compromised imune systems patients, ems workers, nurses,... Unemployed drains on society go right to the front.

I write this after spending the last 3 days flat on my back in bed. With a MILD case of H1N1. I just hope my wife and kids don't get sick. Oh yea. I had to call in sick for my 24hr. Part-time shift with a ambulance company. 72 hours a week taking sick people to tbe hospital, and I can't get a shot but 300 entitled people in Boston can ???

Maybe, and then only if one had the flu back then. That would leave what, 2/3s of us born back then (and maybe many more) unprotected?

My wife is a nurse in central Florida ane works in a surgery center. They are schedued to be amoung the first to be offered the shots. They keep getting the run around on when it will be. The first week in November was the latest estimate, but her boss does not see this happening. I got my seasonal shot at Walgreen's and Medicare covered the whole price. The swine flu was in the 50's I believe and the Victoria flu was in the 1970's. President Ford asked us all to take one.

We got our regular flu shot on the 13th of Oct.which took about 45 mins. from lineup to exit. We went this morning to get our H1N1 shot to the same location arriving at 10.45 AM. It took us 4 hrs from lineup to exit. If we could have seen the lineup that was snaking around the inside of he building we might have waited but once in I wasn't going to go back.It is now over, but if I come down with any discomfort I will post on here.
