I just watched a Rachel Ray segment on bed bugs. I just shuddered during the whole thing. ONE more reason for traveling in my house on wheels, vs. flying & staying in a hotel.

And they all had bed bugs. They wore the same clothes day after day until they pretty much fell off. They all had lice and scabies. And diarrhea from drinking bad water and eating spoiled food, when they had food. And they walked across the prairie, often in bare feet--had to save the oxen's strength for the Rockies. They suffered smallpox, measles, infant death, and cholera with no medications other than whatever herbs Mom had packed. Not even an aspirin for their backaches.
No sir, I am not made of pioneer stock.

And proud of it. And yes, they died waaay too soon ... to soon to buy an RV.
That's why I laugh when I see "Eco, green, organic". What I think of is "science, health, life span" etc and things such as insecticide, herbicides, medicine, fertilizers...it is the stuff we worked for to increase our life spans, reduce illness, and in general make our live's better...which it has.
I just wish the greenies would go back to walking everywhere...they'd then be out of the way, those that want only organic, would be the sick ones' in the emergency rooms. Ah, progress, where have you gone? One can only hope...for change?

Not all of them were dirty and wore the same clothing till they fell off! Have you heard of lye bar soap? They made their soap and brought it along. Not all had lice and bed bugs! People came accross the plains but they still kept reasonable clean, as long as they could find water to bathe. They had ways to treat lice and bed bugs back then too!
