I have an 07 Seneca 35GS, bought it used from a dealer long gone. Only have about five trips on it and hardly ever use the TV.

I am on a two week trip now on the Parker Strip in AZ with water hookup only. I thought I would watch a movie on the inverter but found that the front TV which is a replacement keeps kicking the inverted. I tried a little portable 400W inverter and kicked it also. TV works fine on the gen.

That's the history, my question is what outlets are on the inverter or should be on the inverter?? I have only found the outlet for the front TV to be on the inverter. Does this sound normal?? I would think at least one or two other outlets would be hot for charging cells and comps.

What is your experience??

Rich

I opted for the 'Entertainment Pkg'. Inverter only operates plug for TV ~ DVD ~ etc.etc. My TV (as came orig. installed) works great ~ just have to remember not to fall asleep & leave it on too long.

The 400 watt inverter may only be connected to one outlet (possibly 2 the other back in the bedroom for that TV). Our 2008 came with the 1800 watt(4 batteries) it runs 2 TV's (front and rear)and the micro but that is it. Sounds like the TV is drawing more than 400 watts if it is kicking both out.

I have a '06 Seneca 35GS and only the front TV outlet is on the ZANTEC 400 watt inverter. The original TV that Jayco provided was a 19 or 20" Westinghouse LCD flat panel. Perhaps your replacement TV draws more power that the original unit. That would explain the inverter kicking out, also be sure your batteries are fully charged.

Another thing that will kick out the inverter is DC voltage too low.

Jayco should have provided adequate wiring for the current and distance from batteries, but you could have voltage drop problems in connections. Resistance can go quite high in dirty or loose connections under heavy load, though they check out near 0 ohms when metered.

Another possibility: two to three year old house batteries could be shot if they weren't properly cared for. A battery that has been partially dry will still charge to "fully charged" voltage, yet may have only a small fraction of its storage capacity, dropping to "fully discharged" voltage after a short time under load. An inverter will usually cut off before it sees "fully discharged" voltage, to protect itself as well as save the batteries from damage.

Here are a couple of tips to try when powering up your TV.

Load shed as much 12V stuff as you can before turning on the inverter. Make sure your batteries are fully charged and still good. Also, make sure nothing else is plugged in to the outlet when you turn on the inverter.

I have a 32" HDTV flat screen, a DirecTV receiver and the DVD player plugged in to mine and sometimes I have to unplug the DVD player for the other two to come on. After that, I can plug the DVD player back in and it's all good.

Since your other inverter is getting kicked off too by the TV...exactly what kind of TV is it and what is the size?

Thank you for all the quick replies.

The TV is a Toshiba 27DF46 and it lists the power consumption as 140w, it does not give a start-up power. Both my inverters have an 800w surge.

I tried unpluging everything but the TV and with full batteries and still no luck.

At least I am now quite sure I only have one outlet on the inverter. I'll get into it further after this trip.

Thank you all again.

I have this problem with our 2008 35GS. With our TV (and I forget the brand), if we do not allow the TV to shut down all the way, it will trip the breaker on the inverter during start up with the inverter. My solution is one of two paths. If I am someplace where I can fire the genset up for a little while, I will cut it on, start the TV, turn on the inverter, then shut down the genset. If not, I will start the inverter, start the TV, take off the access cover and reset the inverter circuit breaker. Eventually, I will change the inverter cover from a screwed on cover to one that is hinged.

A last thing to try is the generator procedure.

Start up the genny, turn on the inverter and then turn on the TV. After a minute or so, turn off the generator and the inverter should hold the TV.

My 32' also pulls 140watts and the stock Zantrex runs it fine.

As a last resort, maybe a TV change might be in order.

Good luck,

I have the same trouble, what I have to do is unplug the T V start the invertor and let it come on line for about 30 sec or so than plug the t v back in and it works fine......I found that when the invertor first starts up the t v will come on every time and that overloads the invertor, and I have up graded to an 1000w invertor , still didnt help, so now I just do the unplug thing................
