When Wal-mart says sale starts at 8AM they mean 3AM.
I have been wanting a new laptop and when Wal-Mart sent me an e-mail
saying they were going to have some HP G60 laptops for sale today saturday the 7th I thought I would check them out.
I arrived there at 7:30 to find a near empty parking lot, so far so good I unloaded my mobility scooter and headed in back to the Electronic Department still no coustomers,
great only 7:45 after looking for the computers and not finding any I ask sales person when were they going to put out the computers?
Her response was " we got 27 and they are all gone. sold the last one at 5."
I said what? she said "we started handing out tickets to the ones who were in line and manager said go ahead and sell them."
I sure glad I only wanted one and not needed one.
This is just a small rant feel free to delete if you want.
They pulled that same thing on me last year. Found a great blockbuster price for kitchen-aide mixers. Arrived two hours early. Stood in front of the mixer display for two hours, two mixers on the shelf. At 7:00 a.m. I took my mixer to the checkout where I was told the sales mixers were all sold out, from a special pallet with a special sku. My mixer, same model, did not have the special sku,I would have to pay full price.I told them where to put it. That was that.

My wife would DEMAND a rain check!!!! Would have ad in hand, stating false advertising, bait and switch etc. She would settle for a better quality at the same price, but would not take "sorry we sold out" as an excuse, ESPECIALLY!! since she was there exactly as the ad stated. If the answer was no, in a few days they would wish they would have given it to her free, as she would start on the phone and go right up the corporate ladder until she got satisfaction. On more than one occasion she has spoken to CEOs of Fortune 500 companies concerning problems with their stores or products. You should email Wal-mart corporate HQ and tell them what happened-especially the part where you unloaded your mobility scooter-and I truly believe that Walmart will take care of you, along with the store manager getting his derierre chewed heartily. Newspapers love stories like this. Gary

That's why they usually say, "limited quantities" or if I recall this one said, " While supplies last."
So lets see, lots of people in line at midnight willing to wait until store opened to be sure of getting one. management had 27 to sell and gave them to the first 27 in line instead of making them wait 5 more hours. doesn't sound like false advertising/hanky panky to me. since you can buy a decent one for $350 without waiting all night, it isn't worth it to me.

Better Walmart does it this way to prevent the stampedes, not like you were getting one anyway. If you show up 15 minutes before the sale starts you really shouldn't expect to get one.

exactly. he showed up 30 minutes before "opening' and expected to get one????? anytime Best Buy, WalMart, etc. have one of these door busters or release of a New WII, etc. you better get their hours early. In some cases these stores have given out numbers to the first X number of people in line to avoid the stampede and death which IIRC occurred at a walmart not too long ago.
and Demand a rain check, false advertising, Hog wash.
