This is our 11th. year snowbirding and we wandered extensively for three or four - all in Florida - narrowing down our favorites. Then we spent a couple of weeks in each of six or so places. Two years ago, almost three, we bought a small park model in one park that we loved and now this is it for six months a year. We come down in October, go home for about three weeks in December, and come back January through April.
Wandering is good. As someone said, each place speaks to a certain person. This park spoke to us. It was one of the first places we ever went in Florida back in 2000. It isn't fancy, the amenities are nicer elsewhere, but the people here can't be beat. Of course, our little hovel is right on the river and that's a major plus. I love my river We have tons of activities, we are close to good shopping and medical care, and the weather is generally wonderful. We're happy.

We stayed at the same park for 5 years, made so many good friends, next week we will be moving to a new park 2 miles down the road because we really liked the area and wanted to be in a park where we owned our lot.

Only the starts of the second year of snowbirding for us. When we leave MN we're on the road for 6-7 months.
For us the best time is when I turn the ignition key off. Then after about a month we feel the need to hit the road again and see what's around the next corner.
Last winter we landed in a park in Fl for six months. Had a great time and enjoyed everyone. It was very hard to leave! This winter we're moving around in Texas and seeing what that state has to offer. We're not planning on being anywhere for more then a month.
I'm guessing that in the future we'll find a spot someplace that we care to keep returning back too. Driving a RV through big cities, high winds, up and down long grades, gassing up in poorly laid out gas stations, and finding yourself at the intersection of no and where with a funny engine noise may be adventurous, but it is also stressful and a hard lifestyle to maintain year after year.
Then again we enjoy the road when we're doing it, and I miss it when we come off of it. I just may not have the best rig for it, and need to upgrade. Then you get into the logic of what you're going to pay to get the right rig that depreciates vs buying something fixed that could appreciate in value. As you can see, we're still figuring it out.

This will be my 15th year in the same park and on the same spot with the same neighbors, its like old home week when you show up, in my park the same people come ever year and park in the same spot, would hate moving around all time and not knowing any one, have lots of friends where I go and would never change parks

If I were you, I would try several different parks to discover the ones you like the best. However, you don't have to stay in the same park all winter...We enjoy seeing different areas and just simply seeing America. After you have done this for a while, then you will probably go where you enjoyed it the best.

cypress woods in fort myers is the place you want to stay. the developer is still developing lots and still contributing to the welfare of the park. the association hasn't taken over completely and your dues are not $5,ooo plus like some parks in the area. You don't get assesments every time to make up for unnecessary expenses.

Not 16 years, and we spend all summer on the road, but the rest is the same.

Last winter was our first winter snowbirding. We found a park that we love,in Boerne Texas. However We are going to start in Florida, with two weeks in Fort Myers, Then two weeks somewhere else in Florida. Starting in Feb we plan to work our way back to the Texas campground we liked so much. I am sure that there are other parks we will like just as much. I want to see what I am missing. That is why we have wheels.

The advantages of staying at the same location include knowing where stuff is and knowing people in the campground who you include in your list of friends.
The disadvantages of staying at the same location include not knowing if there is something better down the road and some of the same people who are in the campground that are not your friends.
With the continued addition of park models there will come a time when we have to move to another park. Hopefully then we will find another nice park to spend the winter. Maybe even go to Texas. Its a big state and I hear that you're not taken for granted as much as is the case in Florida.
