In early Feb we are heading to Arizona for 3 or 4 weeks. Sometime in early March we want to head for St. George, Utah.
Would like to travel North to Flagstaff and then follow 89 up to alt 89 / 389 / 59 / 9 East to St. George. Is this an acceptable route that time of year? Or should we play it safe and head NW out of Phoenix on 60 / 93 through Vegas and then I15 to St. George?

Either is fine but check the weather reports before traveling since the first route can be treacherous if a major winter storm in passing through. Happy Camping!!!

WE have done both routes in early April in different years. Both are good travelling but as Sandia Man said - that time of year just watch the weather forecasts.

We have made this trip a number of times with a 32 foot fiver. As the others have said, it all depends on the weather. It is a long climb from Camp Verde up to Flagstaff on I17, but not overwhelming. Again, just watch the weather.

Jim~

There is often snow on Alt 89 in March. Remember that Alt 89 takes you up over the plateau and gets pretty high with some twists and turns. You could stay on 89 through Page as an alternative. While I think Alt 89 is the prettier route and usually not a problem you may find it challenging at that time of year. Just a thought.
